  1. I've went to see a customer this evening and she is concerned about this syc. There is some Armillaria in the garden but I can't see any 'boot laces' or old fb around this tree. The damage has come on in a short period of time and the tree has a TPO on it (info only). You can probe in a couple of mm through wet rot then you're into solid wood. The canopy is healthy and vibrant at the moment. What does the Arbtalk collective think the cause is and the best COA? Oh, in real life the tree is up the right way☺

    Cedar

J, I get what you're saying. But the customer paid for the tree to be taken down not to satisfy the secondary use of the timber. They already have a lot of planks from this tree and the lime that was taken down at the same. If you factor the extra cost for 4 days crane hire (most l likely a 100t) is not economically viable which is a shame. If the task was to provide timber for milling that's different. by the way I got a nice lump to mill, probably to make a laundry chest. I'm sure what's left will be used sensibly and not just left or burned. Cheers Mark

No metres, it was an epic lifting them. We had a woodmizer on site and he didn't touch them.

Because the crane (80t) didn't have larger duties at the required reach. I think the larger but are about 4t iirc.

    Moto GP

Great start to the season. I how it continues.
  20. You've got to get straight back to work, as soon as you can, something gentle perhaps but climbing anyway. The longer you leave it the harder it becomes and the great the lasting mental effects. Talk through the incident with people who were there, don't get drunk and STAY away from prescribed medication unless you get a second opinion from another GP. It can be tough but don't bottle it up, but you need to get back work and that may take some courage. If you don't you will normalise avoiding climbing instead of returning to normal life. Ensure you get to participate in the investigation, you should be interviewed at least. Basically, the above advice is taken from dealing with post traumatic incidents in Iraq and Afghan. Just my thoughts. Whatever, I hope you are feeling better soon.
  21. Cheers Jon. I'll give you a bell on the weekend about the loppers. Mega busy this week. 3 days of crane work on the trot! Mark
  22. Ours broke because the lift arms kept lifting even when the controls were depressed while it had brace on. Won't know to extent of the damage until it removed.
  23. Cheers, I'll get on the phone tomorrow. Really need the tractor at the moment. Always the same...
  24. Hi all, we've had a drama with our 35x the other day. There was a loud bang which broke the top cover of the rear axle which the arms attached to. Anyway after some serious intent searching I can't find a replacement. Anybody know where I might find one? Cheers
