  2. hmmmm mice , so how many times did you manage to spear your sefl on the spines up and down the tree ?
  3. maybe when i have 100k spare !!!!!! untill then i will have to keep looking at what i can fit a roof mount too - this could all end in tears ha ha
  4. well i guess i would become a tree officer - that way if i could not be doing trees then neither could any of the locall tree surgeons lmao . on a serious note i think i would have to go and work as a fittness instructor !!! have you ever seen how many pretty ladies go to the gym and are in need of some instruction !!!!!!
  5. ahhhh lol sorry only now twigged on , will get some pics to you tomorrow . i would love to have a go on a valmet and roof mount but sadly there is only one in cornwall that i know of , im not looking to get into forrestry but a tractor with a roofmount or similar fastrac would be a usefull tool for the bigger jobs .
  6. cheers bud , i may well see if you can help me out with a programme or two to help with getting back to benching and pressing more . i am dreading goign back to training my leggs as well , before i injured my shoulder i was just shy of squatting 248kg for 5x5 , i know i will be a long way off that now . to be honest tring to get back to the gym seems to be just as hard right now
  7. nice looking tractor you have there steve , i have spent the last moth wondering or not to get an older fastrac and fit a timber crane behind the cab or tokeep an eye out for something exactly like you have . i guess i will possibly be getting a fastrac as you bought that lol any way good on you and i look forward to some pics of the girl at work
  8. Razzle and Penthous seem to be quite good reading , well looking at the pictures any way !!!!! On a serious note it may be worth while looking the forestry journal / esential arb .
  9. exactly and even though this it is a contradiction in terms but it seems going backwards it the only way forwards in this case - cheeper parts , better service , will last longer off road and better still i can hang my arm out of the window all year long without people looking at me as if im mad !!!! oh and the missus will not EVER ask to borrow it !!!!
  10. have any of you had the recall notice for the alloys on the Navara - aparently it goes from 2006 right up to this year !!! we took ours in and were told to come back in 3 months when they have some more replacment sets !!!
  11. i cant quite do that but a can do you a 54 plate navara with only 68 on the clock . I have been that put off buy Nissan that i am now looking at getting a Landrover !!!!!
  12. after reading this thread i have come to the decision that i will be needing to replace my month old rigging rope fairly soon , i would have thought that with the forces applied by snatching heavy timber has pushed my safety factor to its limmits if the theory in 10:1 being a true calculation . it is an interesting subject and something i hope continues , it is information and experience as detailed in your previous threads that is not readily available . thanks guys
  13. Hi Jonathan i am the owner of two Nissan Navara's and im proud to be able to say that i am 100% hapy with the fact that i am selling them and not getting another Nissan 4x4 for a very very long time , i dont feel that the level of service offered by the dealerships is acceptable when returning a vehicle for faults to be fixed under warranty . My older navara (54plate) required a new bottom end - the dealers words were " Mr Mathews we dont really care if it is a warranty job or not - this is an expensive repair and as long as we get paid the bill (six odd grand) we are happy . when i complained that the truck had mould growing on the interier they simply told me that i should not expect anything more because it had been sat in their compound for over 3 months . i then asked how the truck had gained severa scratches - again i was asked what i expected when it had been parked on their compound for over 3 months it was at this point my missus decided that she would not be using the 7grand she had in her bag to put down as a deposit for a new one . as far as i am concerned Nissan can kiss my arse .
  14. Im based down in cornwall and have not had a problem purchasing Stihl equipment From F.R Jonse , whats the harm in having to prove that you are a pro user ? . more to the point i quite like it - down here if i wish to buy anything from my locall dealer i know i will be paying almost the full price as listed in the current catalogue and i will have to wait while they order it in . On the other hand i can speak to F.R Jones and know that they are not going to be beaten on price and in most cases i will get what i have ordered the next day . Its not a dificult decision to make - prove your a pro user and get better prices ! simples
  15. is he any good ? and whats the waiting time like ?
  16. lol we run the saw on both 36" and 48" however i have another 880 in a box of bits lol maybe i will bring the lot up to you next time im up . i would rather have one saw that runs one bar rather than changing them every now and then
  17. i now use a husky 395xp and would not buy anything elts now , i have used plently of ms660's and the husky seems to have more grunt , lover vibes , better fule and oil filler caps , more comfortable to use both on the ground and in the tree . the only reason for getting the 395xp was to replace my ageing 288xp - this saw was made in 1998 and has seen a staggering ammount of work - the saw it still being used regularly and the main reason to get the 395xp was to have an extra saw on site and to run a bigger bar .
  18. Hmmm where abouts are you ? i could sent you the unit but in guessing you would need a bar and chain lol .
  19. ha ha ha , well all i can say is - BLAGG it then !!!
  20. had a look at the plug and its a nice biscuit collour , the air filters are cleaned daily and fule tank and filter is all clean . to be honest one of the problems in being down here in cornwall is that there aint any decent firms near me that know there stuff on bigger saws .
  21. without sounding rude but - push for whiplash etc and you will probably get another 3-4k to spend on a vehicle lmao
  22. hi guys , we required our 880 on a job today but when we fired the saw up it would not idle , as soon as you blip the throttle and take it off of half choke it imediately dies , if you keep the revs up you can use it but to my mind this aint right but to rule out stale fuel we ran 5 tanks full through the saw but still its not happy ticking over , if you can get it to tick over the tickover speed will not be constant and when you do then pick the saw up and so much as touch the throttle id stalls . Having looked at the carb mixture settings i can see that the h/l jets have the anti tamper covers so in theory it can not be out of tune or messed with by one of the staff . So does anyone have any advice as to what may cause this ? Cheers in advance
  23. John , any chance of some pics ? been looking at getting a GRCS myself but not sure just how much i would use it , not sure if we would still be using smaller lowring divices of whether or not the GRCS will be overkill on smaller jobs
  24. I will never understand the point in using roids !!! I must say im really hoping to get back to training again soon , since dislocating my shoulder a few months back i aint really been training much , i expect i will go back and struggle to bench 95kg . oh well plenty of cardio will get the extra few pounds shifted again !!!
