  3. Having the river run right round one of our fields in an arc we get a lot of problems with river erosion, most of it we have combatted by filling and putting willow stems in, one bad corner was stacked with large concrete blocks, didnt look nice to begin with but how its grown over and looks good. But anyway heres my point, saw this today on the opposite bank, such a shame as a few years a go this oak tree was looking really healthy. Wont be long before hes in.
  4. Yeahh that right, thought i would have a go at a bit of this type of stuff today, always been sort of interested in it, so today i decided that i would have a "practise" at somthing. My Family has got an area of land by the river, lovely place for BBQ's and my friends and I go camping there in the summer, so i have decided to give it a bit of a make over, going to fence it off, plant some more trees, build a nice bench (just gotta mill the timber first) and today i put some "steps" down to the river. Was a bit of a bodge job, but hey they work and im pleased with them, just kinda grabbed some bits of sawn wood scraps and a few old half round stakes and off i went, no real planning involved and certainly no tape measure or spirt level (think i should have taken the spirt level though ), not quite finished gunna get 2 boards, 4ft-ish might measure it and put along each side of the steps going down the bank, if ya get what i mean. Did some strimming aswell, docks and nettles, now its looking good, had a nice afternoon

Still waiting for the 44" bar to come in the post, but had a go with it yesturday with my pretty much brand new 36" Oregon Bar Cutting up a big piece of oak so it would it on the band saw, took the first slab off with the alaskan, rolled it with the tractor, then took the next slab off by nailing a rail along the side and just following it with the saw, dunno why i decided to do it like that lol Was a gooood day

  17. Hey Everyone! At home, the river runs right around one of our fields and i want to plant some trees in an area of it, theres already a lot of alder and willow trees around there so i want to put some other stuff around it, what do you recomend planting in a wet area or near-ish to a river? And at what time of year would be best to plant, as this field floods on and off throughout the winter. Thanks Guys
