  1. I hired a kindlett from a bloke in north wales, its a 2005 model so slower than the new turbo model, so it can be operated by one person all day long 40 to 50 bags an hour, charged me £700.00 for month and got 4000 bags done in 3 weeks. can find out his number if interested. Mike.
  2. I just insured as a small business and the wood is stock, including nets its in etc, up to £8000. Just thought would be worth it in case of a fire, I told the NFU details of what i wanted, they then get price from their head office, takes a few days to come back with price, Mike.
  3. I insured with NFU this year, PL and equipment(processor, chainsaws etc) plus £8000 worth of wood(200T) was £500, also got price of EL if i got busy and wanted some one helping me, and that would be £300 on top. Mike.
  4. Thats what i thought, what with the demand at the moment
  5. This is for sale on ebay, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/posch-wood-processor-saw-bench_W0QQitemZ250402104667QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_BOI_FarmingEquipment_RL?hash=item250402104667&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 Also says in listing soon to be selling 500 tons of hardwood as getting out of firewood business
  6. That is so bad i cant believe it, just touching the pole by accident once would be bad enough, but they must of thought they where using a angle grinder by the state of the number plate.
  7. I have a oregon bench mounted grinded, and i bounce it the same as dean, it does not blue the teeth. Its certainly a faster way of doing chains that hit nails, and as i have lots of chains for different saws, i normally end up with about 10 to do in one go, so once its set right for each chain theres no need to measure, so set it to the most damaged tooth and away you go.
  8. My splitter i made has about the same size ram as yours, and was as slow running as yours when connected to my MF590. so i connected it to a spare out let on a old volvo 6 cylinder lorry i have with a crane on it for around the yard, it doubled the speed and made it alot more powerfull when just over tickover. i would say if it was going faster i would let go of the wood once it grips, just to make sure your hand is well out of the way.
  9. When i got a quote from nfu not very long ago i asked if i went to another office would i be given the same price, she said Yes the nfu is the underwriter, although they are independent so i think its a sort of franchise thing they do, so it may be that some offices dont want to do that insurane them selves, maybe they dont make any money out of it, or they are the ones not giving the right info to their head office. just a guess.
  10. I am after some roundwood, for fire wood, i am in somerset.
  11. Yes this is true, less than 1/4 mile from me theres a lad who has lost his job, so he has been selling willow that his father in law got paid to pollard on his farm, hence being able to sell half price as i buy my wood, but what got me was then after selling all his wood to my customers, he had the cheak to come and ask where i got my wood as he has ran out:mad1:
  12. I burn mine, cutting in a shed so dry until day i load it to burn, smolders away for a few days.
  13. I was bricking it just watching, knowing if the pic locted properly would be the worst thing, great video and pics.
  14. I phoned these last week for price on big bags, she said they dont do smaller ones anymore just the 2 large sizes, dont no why they have not updated their website.
  15. same size as that, good job i havent bought them yet.
  16. bagsupplies.com seem to be fairly good price, was quoted £161 for 1000 delivered with vat.
  17. ok thanks, if it does not work with the larger bags i can always just get some smaller bags once my stocks used up.
  18. I looked at the bagging device on fuelwoods website, is that the same one as you used, and also is it ok filling larger bags full? The bag in the picture is very small with only about 5 logs in it, the bags i use 85x50 will hold about 10-14 depending on size, thanks.
  19. Im more convinced now, did not think you would be able to do that many an hour, thats a lot of time i could be doing something else with, will be looking at them again i feel, and probably buying one, cheers
  20. I have been thinking of getting one of those tripping trays but the "200.00 price keeps putting me off, i can fill about 25- 30 bags an hour, stacked in to the top not just thrown in. so how many bags could you do a hour with this device?
  21. I just sell as 1 or 2 m3 loads to normal customers, was thinking of selling bags for £3.00 or 3.25 each, putting a few outside so they catch peoples eye as they drive past, your price sounds about the same as mine as your bags are slightly smaller.
  22. Yea easier that way, keeping to a round number saves the change, the garage pays at end of the month so dont matter there:001_smile:
  23. I have been using 50x85, and sell them to the local garage for £2.80, full right up hard wood, they sell them for £4.00. When i ran out they started having them from someone else, who is putting i about 8-10 small soft wood logs, selling them to garage for £2.15, and they are then still selling them at £4.00, lucky i no the manager so will still have mine when i get some more wood:sneaky2:
  24. I use orange, very good service, had trouble getting connection to work to start with, so on the phone to technical (although india or somewhere) for half an hour, he went right through my computer settings until it worked, so while on the phone got him to tell me how to get my laptop connected also, 5 mins later that was away as well, price is good too, 6.50 a month.
  25. A bit far from somerset then, lol, never mind.
