  1. I hope you have nice dry wood or you may be disapointed:001_tongue:
  2. [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/Handheld-Wood-Moisture-Meter-MD-812/dp/B00118SL6A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1267830724&sr=8-1]Handheld Wood Moisture Meter - MD-812: Amazon.co.uk: Kitchen & Home[/ame] link to amazon, it was 25.00
  3. I have one the same, got it on amazon last year, think it was 19.99 from what i can remember.
  4. Hi, i dont use it too much any more as wood cuttin is done out side, i used to bring lengths in with fork lift. The weight is ok never noticed it, it is alot quieter all you can hear really is the chian going round. Not sure as fot smaller one, i just went straight for the biggest one thinking electric would not be too good but i was very impressed when i started using it.
  5. I have a MSE220 stihl electric saw with a 18" bar. Loads of power i cut about 40 tons with it insde a shed before i got a processor, form stuff from 6" to 20" no problems. Cuts as well as the 390 farmboss i have. Only thing i found was after about 20-30 mins of hard work the it will cut out until it cools down, a built in safty feature, but by the time you throw the rings you have cut into a heap ready to split its ready to go again. one way to help the motor getting hot is to keep the filter on the end of the motor clean, a few taps with your hand every 10 mins is enough for the sawdust to drop off the filter. Mike:001_smile:
  6. Site looks good sam. I started on 15 mile free delivery, but was sujested by people on here to only go to 10 miles free delivery, which i have found is about right, after that i charge £1.20 a mile, especially as your min order is only £25.00 thats a 30 mile round trip and sometimes up to a hour with traffic etc, Mike
  7. On the belt issue they will twist if you do not have the 3 top and bottom pulleys exactly in line as they can be adjusted sideways, Mike
  8. Sounds good keep me posted:thumbup1:
  9. What sort of price was your machine, and what sort of output does it give, mike

  12. What problems have you had with the 1x42, i am trading in my 1x37 for one of these machines, is it just small things or some major problems you have had, Mike
  13. Better to measure the bag then state the volume, they are only 1 ton bags when the product inside weighs a ton ie sand or stone.
  14. Get the wood insured it does not cost too much just in case of these reasons. People laugh at me when i say my wood is insured but better save than sorry:thumbup1:

  17. To garages and shops £3.00 +VAT, £3.50 to public all hardwood. Sure if your near a busy road could get 3.50 to 400 with sign outside,
  18. Average of about 12/13 per bag, by filling the tray to the same level you got the same amount of logs in each bag what ever diameter size the are:001_smile:
  19. I have a fuelwood tilt tip bagging tray and it works great, i cut all the logs to 10 inchs, tray is 11 inchs wide. then use the large nets (65x85) and as long as you keep the logs level with the top of the tray and not over fill it the bags slide over a treat, no catching at all. 1 person can easily bag 40 bags a hour easily.
  20. The nets i do i get about 24 to a m3. found this out by processing into a 1 m3 trailer then bagged them,
  21. no you would not get 90m3 loose loads out of a artic load, more like 45 to 50 m3 i would say. wishful thinking though:biggrin:
  22. I adjusted the valve for the pressure of the bar being pushed down, this has helped with more oil flow as well, need lots oil to also to stop the chain from stretching all the time.
  23. On the 2nd page of this pdf doc there is a chart for working out wood fuel costs for hard and soft wood http://www.calu.bangor.ac.uk/Technical%20leaflets/050108woodfuelenergycontent.pdf
  24. What sort of planning would you need, i run my firewood business from our farm so persume i would not need to apply for any additional planning myself, i am right thinking this:confused1:
