  1. i was thinking that my self you buy a new car thats been sat outside in a carpark for god knows how & is now out off date

  5. how big is the stump thats left, the lecky cable should be 18 inch below g/leval ,can you expose the cable by hand & then see if you can the grinder in
  6. if its a bady i get a over sized file to cut it out then redress it with the correct size file or if its paggerd just bin it
  7. my min £50 but only do the job when passing,i dont go out off my way to do it. £50 once a week pays the fuel bill thats how i look @ it

  11. verybody has there way own qurky way off doing things for the way they do this job it doesnt make it wrong or dangerouse some folk file free hand some use a jhig of sorts !!! me a placse for eveything & EVERYTHING in its place thank you
  12. not @ all you should be able to judge what needs taking off after a lot off yrs you will find it come on its own
  13. swb place your flat file in line with the run off the chain across 3/4 cutters & you can see the gap ,reduce as required
  14. how many off you drop a file size as the cutter gets close to its ware limit ie from 3/8 to 3/16 i find it helps get the maximum out of a chain !!!
  15. used to use the old filing guides but done it free hand for 20 yrs+ now , allways do the rakers 1.st as not to catch the freshley sharpend cutter with the flat file:001_smile:
  16. employed staff that thought they new better by taking the rakers extra low !!! then they **** a bit off lime stone good by chain hello more expence !!as for grinding chains if needs grinding it needs binning ,havnt used a stihl dealer to grind a chain for donkeys yrs as they made such a poor job of it & blued the chain making it softer !! that why i bye it by the roll & get it made up
  17. all chains are sharp out of the box !! if not it would say sharpen before use would it not
  18. i thinks more to do with price, pro company job price (ie) £150 not so pro company £100 cash!!!! as far as they are concernd tree cut & saved £50 nicker !! but 90% is trees accesable from a trusty ladder !! above that thay dont want to know because there :scared1:

  20. been using saws since i was 13 yr old thats 30yrs on saws & never done that !!!!! why sharpen a sharp chain ,used to change the angle when moving from s/wood to h/wood but that was yrs ago no point these days saw chain is good on both types these days sounds like a waste off time !!!
