  1. So you got 4-5 tons on each transit load?
  2. Why cut the limbs off? Just shorten over the path
  3. I thought you were going to say "Are we ever going to see giant Pine photos?"
  4. Wow good eyes! Looks like a catapillar. Did you not catch it to take a better look?
  5. I own both. The 150 is deffinatley quicker but don't think its twice the speed. Depends whats going in a guess.
  6. The moments gone, I know when I've been out classed. Can't compete with you boys. Those pics are genius!
  7. I was going to put mine up but I won't bother now.
  8. I can supply a few photos of bad boy Pine dismantles if required? Don't want to hijack the thread though.
  9. I'd love to do that. In fact I'd do it for free!
  10. No wonder you've got no wheels if you drive in those
  11. Devon. I must admit Montery Pines are my nemesis. I have taken down some beasts and they can get the better of me. We took out 3 100ft plus at Killerton in a week a few xmas's ago. 1st was just section fell in 3 or 4 bits. 2nd rigged and 3rd with a crane. Was a full on week
  12. Should get across the border more. We get to play with big trees all the time.

    Boots

Best boots I ever had were Klima Air. They lasted 3 years
  14. Bought some for one of my guys. He clomplained they weren't waterproof and seems split after 9months. Won't be buying anymore
  15. It was several years ago now. I think FB's were present at the base of the tree but there was certainly no evidence of decay. If you look at the 1st shot you can see how sparse the crown is compared to the other Welly, a few of its branches you can see peeking into the shot. I could find out who inspected it and pm you if you are interested. It was a church yard in Ashburton and I haven't been past lately so how the others are doing I don't know. I have removed another Wellingtonia last year which was much smaller. It was stone dead and I suspected HF at the time. Interestingly a Cedar about 20m away on the same site has suddendly died this year and has dark sappy stem exudations which I suspect is HF again.
  16. It had honey fungus and had been indecline for many years. Can't remember who was the consultant at the time but they reccomended felling. I don't think there is any evidence (to my knowledge) of wellingtonias falling over in the UK. There is another wellingtonia and a cedar on the site which at the time had no evidence of HF
  17. Sorry to jump in on the thread. This was a big Wellingtonia I toke out a few years back. About 120ft I think. Taller than the church steeple anyway. Looking forward to the pine photos
  18. I had the same problem with a 660. Changed the brake handle and it works ok now, untill the exhaust gets hot the same again.
  19. Is that the same mogthat was advertised in British Forestry or Essential Arb last year?I did think about looking at it back then but got another chipper instead. How much do you pay for insurance? Do you run it on Red?

  20. Thats how I used to operate as a freelance climber. That way you always have reliable rescue and a good groundsman. Some firms didn't like the idea until they saw how much more effiecint it was.
  21. No hes got 18months climbing experience so just learning. He is coming on well though and has just done his first crane lift this month. Hes going to be good
