Diggers don't depreciate much, there's the initial outlay or finance but you have to be pretty rough to loose a lot of money on them. Better than money in the bank I think.

That's the good thing about owning it, when you hire it you are committed to use it in a small time frame! Today I had the 7 tonner loading the , dumper and the 3 tonner to spread the stuff and just me, I just jumped from 1 to another! I left site for 3 hours and came back and cracked on, if I had staff and it was hired I couldn't of done that and would of been stressed out!

Hi, the bigger machine has been non stop since the end of December on a local job! I nearly sold it but glad I didn't now. It's finished there at the end of the week then going back to the yard for chores and then I have a few days work for it in the village.

The lad I Keep my stuff at was brought up on JCB's, he picked up an old 3cx a few months back! What he can do on it blows my mind! He spends most of his time with his feet on the independent breaks, twisted round operating the controls with his arms and on the back 2 wheels! I'm tempted for a newer 1! I do loads with my 3 toner and dumper but I could do it with a backhoe, it's just getting my skill level up! I'm ok with the front end,mother back end is tricky! I would want the servo controls There is a case like that locally to me Eddie that just sits on a building site owned by a big developer! Cracking bit of kit but my pal says the bent back arm is a pita at times trying to work next to a banking!

Just do it, leave the house that morning with ' I work for myself now ' in your head! the first person you see and know, say Hi, when they say what are you up to, say ' I work for myself now" and that starts a chain reaction of events! You don't need a saw or a van or insurance to do that! Is someone says,' great I have this huge tree needing cut up would you take a look! ' go and look at it, ask how much they would like to spend, they give you a figure and you then say ' no probs I'll do it! Then you talk to another person ask on here if anyone wants to give you a hand and bring a saw and their insurance and go halfs or whatever! The key ingredient is to NOT listen to Negative input! You can get positive input on what NOT to do but don't listen to the doom and gloomers! My main driver for wanting to be successful( who knows if I am or not ) was fuelled by resentment! I wanted to prove the people wrong who said I couldn't or had laughed at me ! The problem with using resentment as a driver is when you do make good it's easy to become arrogant! But that's a whole other story! There's no secret, just want to do it and work hard, work harder than the next man, work harder than your competition, when others are going to work you have done you first job, when others are going home or to the pub to the football to the golf, you should be working! Now charge on !

The change in tools and working methods does ill evictee things and getting a hand helps a lot too as has been said! Since starting a Groundie 3 months ago my sore left tendinitis and righ shoulder are all fixed, and I have a little back handled 150 and it's brilliant! I've been using it to sned out Largs Sitkas, it is really slow but so light it's worth the wait! I did my left wrist in yesterday using the 026 above waist level undercutting wind blow! So back to the little Angry Wasp it is! I am now on digger and dumper duties for the rest of the week so that gives the body a good rest from the saw and chipping!

It depends, if I have to bring others in on and job is risks losing more on time so I will cancel a day if everyone involved is ok with that! If my feet and hands are warm I can suffer a fare bit if they get cold then I'm running for the heaters!

Maybe not stop doing them overnight as we do have bills to pay but a little at a time and planning for our future and our families. It's ok for us to eat some brufen and man up but when our bodies get to the point we can't earn and we haven't changed or adapted is a better word then the people that love us and we provide for suffer. I used to think I couldn't change, then I thought what if I had an accident and the choice was removed for me, what would I do then also I am my own man I am an adult and I was doing things I didn't want to do but felt I should! So it took a few years and a lot of people who used to manipulate me having a strop and that's hard to deal with when I was always and still am and aim to please type person but when you look at who is really the very important ones in your life that ask for nothing in return but your time and ask how your day was, every day, every night then I realised, the jobs, the hedges, the problem customers, the pretend friends, the family members that only wanted things their way then, I changed. Learn to say no again! If it hurts, stop it, simples

The only real cure is to stop doing the things that cause it! Prevention is better than cure! The guys have covered all the remedies and things that help a bit.
