  1. they even let me and dean in lol
  2. a rustic clothes horse will do nicely ian lol
  3. andy mate i used to free climb everything, never tied in till i got to the top, its amazing how quick you can climb trees when you are doing it unsafely it was just like you the other day, a big pine with an audience, i got the saw jammed while knocking out a 30plus foot head, it had never happened to me before, i looked round and my wife, and new baby, mum and dad were there. they didnt know what was happening, i hadnt much hinge left as i never thought it would sit back, but the wind just started swirling, that was the longest minute in my life, i managed to get my line strop up another 2 inches, give it a huge shove and luckily the wind dropped and over she went. from that point on i wisened up. i still get in a rage when climbing very safely, even today i was wrestling my way through a big limb full of growth, everything was getting caught up, i was standing on my rope, strop my silky was getting stuck. everything. it took me about 15 mins to do something i would of done in a couple of minutes. but i came home in one peace and that is the main thing buddy:thumbup:
  4. its the ear muffs that is a killer in the heat, i know where you are coming from andy, but if i dont wear ear defenders for more than 30 secs then they hurt like hell, i tried the ear plugs one day after talking to steve bullman, and the difference was great, but i was climbing through regrowth and my big ears got a bashing, and the plugs had a string on them and kept getting pulled out, so i just went back to muffs, and it has rained here for the last 2 months aswell ha ha. but in the right crown then its a winner
  5. i reckon so too, they can grow huge if allowed to, burns great as firewood
  6. are you just saying that andy?:sneaky2:we have spies all over the country:001_tt2:
  7. i will try your knot tommorow tom and your idea aswell josh, cheers
  8. well its not a rule if you change it when you want is it?
  9. i hate getting stuff in my eyes, and when you cant work you cant earn, and if that was your little one in the photo then thats why you should keep your lid on, not for you but for them.
  10. i may know of one that might be coming up, i will pm you mate
  11. it depends what you want to spend mate, a basic 5 tonner with a rope to operate the mechanism will be a couple of grand, i think jas p wilson has one now on his site, remore control is eacellent, it saves you a man straight away and sometimes the guy on the ground can see better than the tractor man, but the cost all adds up, the easiest way is to set your budget now and the kit will suit that, i know of a double drum winch with 2 6 tonners on it thats remote controlled, but it is worth around 12k
  12. sweet dreams mate, i will be the guy in the hover mog and front mounted cannon lol
  13. how have i missed this thread, after the bulldozers big winch i thought the pics couldnt get any better, no wonder the county is getting rebuilt. lol i love these pics, my dad has thousands of photos from his life before he was married and all the way through our lives, i have piles down the stairs and thousands on my laptop now since the camera phone has come so far, but i really need to get them saved onto discs as back up. but like huck the guy eating the huge cat has got to be the best bit lol. when i was a wee boy i went on holiday down south, we were out walking one day and we met some guys felling trees, my dad has the pics, i will put money on it its your family mate, i dont know why but i just think it will be, they has a big ford and a marshal tractor both 4x4 and they were pulling them over. i will get the pic off my dad and find out where it was.
  14. get your head down and learn learn learn mate, what a great oppertunity, you must have impressed them. good luck and keep us posted on how you get on:thumbup:
  15. i just made that thing up about dean at the show, i dont know why he doesnt like pink shirts, i wouldnt wear one, but something must of happened so i am always looking at finding ways to wind him up. lol ps, get a helmet on Andy, it must be like standing infront of a chipper with out one lol
  16. i am comfortable with my sexuality, hell i would wear womans knickers if there was room for the jangly bits, but deano got all flustered at the last show because he had to sit beside someone with a pink shirt on, you should of seen his face. sorry to derail my non helmet wearing tree buddy, cool pics. james you can keep your pics of the stumpy, i didnt want it anyway:lol:
  17. i passed my first tickets when i was 19, i was convinced that i could now be a lumberjack, i chucked a very good job with tied accomadation that i had lived in with my parents since i was born and spent my savings on ppe and headed off to the woods. i couldnt do anything to in the woods except brash and when you are on peace work you need to be good. i came home(well back to largs with out a home)and had to get a job peeling spuds in a chippy and digging coal and livein a bedsit. i was given false hope and it took me years to get back on track, yes it made me realise the world was a big bad place and life is tuff but at that time TICKETS were new and if you had these liscences as we were told then the world was your oyster. huh!!!!
  18. thats bad news mate, thats a fair pile of saws, some of you guys are really having it tough. i hope you get them back or atr least the insurance cough up
  19. one day when you guys get some real tree work then you will know what i mean:001_tt2:
