  1. the huge beech hedge gets cut back every year from a platform, it takes a team 2 weeks to do i think. a few years back they reduced it by approx 20feet. anyone who hasnt seen this hedge up close should make a point of it, very impressive indeed.
  2. i would love a job with you mate. how do you guys get on with beasties and snakes at work, or have we just been brainwashed that snakes and killer spiders are everywhere?
  3. heres the little chipper doing some lime, scott is still getting to grips with it, its only his second day with it really, so he hasnt quite got the knack of it, i reduced 3 large limes, cut back all the pathway overhang and end loaded a big limb on a birch on the one side, and all the chip fitted in easily under the trees, and the customer was installing a log burner so we logged the bigger stuff for her and filled her new log store with seasoned timber from my yard to get her started. SWEET doesnt cover it, boats with huge hiabs, knuckle boom loaders with 100 feet reach, whole trees from behind log cabins. plus the oppertunity to learn from the best. what price did you get for the wife and kids dave, i am pretty tempted myself lol
  7. i would only feel a little prick
  8. they even let me and dean in lol
  9. a rustic clothes horse will do nicely ian lol
  10. andy mate i used to free climb everything, never tied in till i got to the top, its amazing how quick you can climb trees when you are doing it unsafely it was just like you the other day, a big pine with an audience, i got the saw jammed while knocking out a 30plus foot head, it had never happened to me before, i looked round and my wife, and new baby, mum and dad were there. they didnt know what was happening, i hadnt much hinge left as i never thought it would sit back, but the wind just started swirling, that was the longest minute in my life, i managed to get my line strop up another 2 inches, give it a huge shove and luckily the wind dropped and over she went. from that point on i wisened up. i still get in a rage when climbing very safely, even today i was wrestling my way through a big limb full of growth, everything was getting caught up, i was standing on my rope, strop my silky was getting stuck. everything. it took me about 15 mins to do something i would of done in a couple of minutes. but i came home in one peace and that is the main thing buddy:thumbup:
  11. its the ear muffs that is a killer in the heat, i know where you are coming from andy, but if i dont wear ear defenders for more than 30 secs then they hurt like hell, i tried the ear plugs one day after talking to steve bullman, and the difference was great, but i was climbing through regrowth and my big ears got a bashing, and the plugs had a string on them and kept getting pulled out, so i just went back to muffs, and it has rained here for the last 2 months aswell ha ha. but in the right crown then its a winner
  12. i reckon so too, they can grow huge if allowed to, burns great as firewood
  13. are you just saying that andy?:sneaky2:we have spies all over the country:001_tt2:
  14. i will try your knot tommorow tom and your idea aswell josh, cheers
  15. well its not a rule if you change it when you want is it?
  16. i hate getting stuff in my eyes, and when you cant work you cant earn, and if that was your little one in the photo then thats why you should keep your lid on, not for you but for them.
  17. i may know of one that might be coming up, i will pm you mate
  18. it depends what you want to spend mate, a basic 5 tonner with a rope to operate the mechanism will be a couple of grand, i think jas p wilson has one now on his site, remore control is eacellent, it saves you a man straight away and sometimes the guy on the ground can see better than the tractor man, but the cost all adds up, the easiest way is to set your budget now and the kit will suit that, i know of a double drum winch with 2 6 tonners on it thats remote controlled, but it is worth around 12k
  19. sweet dreams mate, i will be the guy in the hover mog and front mounted cannon lol
