Best way to split large volumes of logs with a digger
Stephen Blair replied to Woodwanter's topic in Firewood forum
If you can lift the timber, the screw will stay in if you put it in enough, Mine is on a 3 ton machine but it’s probably more suited to a 3cx of 5 tonner. I need to watch on breaking up trunks. The end won’t come off if you reverse the screw. It’s on to stay on unless you want it off. There is a lot of gearing in them, just taking a screw off a pto splitter and adding an adapter plate won’t give you the same results on a hydraulic oil fed system. It’s really quick, I wouldn’t say it’s for making small logs, I use it to break them down to a size I am happy to put the hand axe through once when they are dry, I don’t sell logs. -
I’m not even wearing a harness and strop!

No gob, matched cut for saving timber. No pull rope or wedges either, coz that’s cheating

I’ve had the pincer, it’s ok but very slow! You really need it mounted upside down on something heavy with its own hydraulic power pack and load and rip off with a timber crane and grab! The pecker works ok on easy to split stuff like sycamore with no knots, but it’s like writing a nice letter with a crayon, just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. I now have a corkscrew, it’s brilliant! You can pick up and place easily, brilliant on rings and less waste on trunks! -
2 week of the gym here, still just doing 2 , 500m on the rower than 30 mins on the cross trainer. What’s best for hamstrings, that’s where I’m jammed up! Romanian lunges and squats is what I used to do, any tips?

There demo model had no tow bar and I was told the wrong towing capacity! The first thing I asked was that, he said 3.5ton Went home, website said 3.2t.

I had the same with a Toyota. Test drove a Hilux, gave all the details, gave him my trade in details. Contacted them twice to sort out money. Never heard back.
-
My last words were they were private. They never got onto social housing, they attempted to but only got blacklisted but caused me a load of grief in the mean time.

I could listen to that guy all day!

If only it was that easy! All my tenants had references and guarantors . The law is sided to the tenant, they know how to exactly do things, they just get the property struck off without you knowing. 2 of my properties were run down over a period of time. I knew nothing about until we were contacted be neighbours to say they had left. Disconnected extractor fans in the bathroom, piles of wet clothes stacked against a wall, tumble dryer vent moved and pointed into a back porch to create dampness! All this to get moved up the ladder on social housing, they had just built new houses in our town! When I brought a team in to sort it all out, they did in in minutes! There was no long lasting damp, just surface that was sorted with a squirt of bleach and open the windows! I got the black list lifted with 1 phone call, they didn’t even come out and check they buckled when I questioned the credentials of who came out and condemned my houses. By then you are down rent, lock smiths and don’t forget council tax as they have had it down as free to them so they can decorate! When I called to claim it as I was re vamping the whole properties I couldn’t as it had been used, tenant just gives a post code that’s not chased up, Landlord needs to have a meeting with a council worker. The lady on the phone told me it’s just not fare on the Landlords! Don’t forget the stress it causes and lawyers letters which are a waste of time because if you do win in court, they can pay you back £10 a week! Lawyer said don’t waste anymore money! Only saving grace I had is I managed to blacklist them due to unpaid rent! Neither of them asked for their deposit back, which to me is an obvious sign of them in the wrong! 1 even had the cheek to call me asking to remove the blacklist, I said give me my £1500 and I will, she went into a rage saying I had my chance and never took it! Scumballs!!! Can’t forget the threat of violence toward my factor after to her and her children! None of these tenants were social, all private tenants!

J I’m going to focus on a few weeks on mainly cardio on the rower and cross trainer to get movement into my joints and to get into a routine. After that I’ll get back into pull ups, dips, squating and chore strength. I’m jammed up and today proved I’m not damaged just seized! Are you guys buying Whey online, I used to enjoy a chocolate shake in the morning and after the gym.
-
Joined the gym today, didn’t go nuts. 2x 500m on the rower for warm up, burned 250 calories on the cross trainer(approx 25 mins) 10 minutes of stretches and light chore work on the big ball! Shower and home! It’s a start and really enjoyed it, it’s a new gym to me but my membership covers 3 in the area.
-
I used to never want to be in the gym more than an hour, after a few months I got it down to 35 mins. Joining the gym tomorrow, first time in 3 years! Can’t be arsed taking pills and waiting for Drs. I need my life back and I can’t get that sitting in the house with a heat pack on.

I’ve had iPhones for 8 years now, always in my left hand thigh pocket. Never smashed or damaged 1. The sawdust gets in the charge point, I pick it out every couple of months with a tooth pic.
-
With my PP I’d need to live to about 180 before it’s worthwhile leaving the pot full! I’m drawing the lot and paying the tax at 55.
-
Until you want the money, then you pay all that tax back!
-
Spud I had 3 let properties for about 10 years, I had junkies in 1 for a few months we knew nothing about, it cost a few grand and stress and I’ve a dozen stories of leaky taps and moonlight flits, late payments, stolen rent money on Christmas Eve, blah blah blah! I had rented out to the wrong folk in the last year, previous to that it was pretty much plain sailing. If I did it again I’d do Air BnB! Now that’s a good earner!
-
I’ve had my CS100 for 8 years now, it can go a couple of months between use these days. Usually first pull and it’s away. I sold it 2 years ago then bought it back because I missed her!
-
Thanks and I hope you heal quick!

J I’ve been to An Ostiopath monthly for 22 years, always just abuse and graft. My new physio blames Stress in around my shoulders. Doctor reckons it’s Scariiilittis, inflammation in that joint hence sore after rest, better after movement. Once my X Ray gets back Doctor should have a better idea of what’s going on.

Government puts in 20%, if you draw it out at 55 you can pay between 25-25% on the lump. I put enough into a pension that I don’t notice.

Hell yeah, if it doest work you just get a job! I now treat life like those old pedal mopeds. Sometimes you can cruise along and an odd time you have to pedal like mad then it’s back to cruising! I’ve invested £100k in kit before and I wasn’t any better off so I’m not doing that again!

Retire!

Depends on what stage it’s at before being felled. If it was in decline with some large cavities you could be good to go. I don’t know if there’s an exact answer regarding moisture, hopefully someone else might know.
