  1. Mog doing what she does best, I had already craned done beech off a rd but no pics!
  2. Hopefully it will blow itself out soon and cause minimal damage! Stay safe everyone, if you get a call out look after yourself!
  3. Where are you woody?? Our lights are flickering here in Largs
  4. Very windy, has been all night, I can hear wheely bins and contents rattling about the street.
  5. Just as well my accountant handles that side then And I'm no arborist
  6. New kit 100% tax relief, 2nd hand 50% tax relief. Unless you go over your limit.
  7. Huck you have Stolkhom syndrome!! What you buying??
  8. Sap and crud may need scraped off the flywheel, my TW used to slow down on the no stress and let the engine die down too much. A wire brush will sort it.
  9. My advise is do not assume anything!! Everyone has different moral obligations, if you let some away 30 mins early every week for a year, some will expect overtime for the 1 half hour you have to chat to the customer while they wait in your van or car for a lift home! Put everything in writing, sign it and remember your the boss and they are the workers because when backs are against the wall, they will remind you of this. For all of the above reasons, I don't employ anyone any more!!
  10. Seems high, RBS are doing 6.4% over 2 years.
  11. That was a TALL gum tree, great video!
  12. Wow nice old Deutz, :thumbup1:I remember watching them rot away to nothing as a kid:laugh1:
  13. It all depends on what is agreed on before hand. If they agree to getting paid while only at the job site then fair enough, work can be tight, distances may need travelled to keep a business going. I'd rather sit in a warm van for a few hours a day for nothing if it kept me in work.
  14. Get it felled if theres a road at the other side of the field.
  15. That was my main driving force to prove some folk wrong! You need a big van, with advertising all over it and a micro chipper inside. You don't need a yard if the customer keeps the stuff. Offer a splitting service and an all round maintenance package. Try and keep,it staff free for as long as you can, and look for a subby climber to help you with bigger takedowns. Forget bigger contracts , don't run before you can walk.
  16. His poor poor family jewels!!!!!
  17. I can buy a brand new Cat for £20k plus vat, and a trailer for £1500 second hand, straps are a tenner. As a guide price, brand new is 50% more tax efficient aswell and they are doing interest free credit. Diggers always sell though.
  18. if your tirfor doesnt have a handle on it, then get 1! makes such a diference. nothing i can do about the wire rope though! or the strops, or the shackles, or the chains:001_rolleyes:
  19. Tirfor everytime!
  20. the Luton set up is perfect for the 1 man band micro chipping set up. i did have a wee trailer behind my van, then i got a bigger van and it went inside, but pushing up and down ramps was a bit sketchy, then i got the tail lift which is brilliant. its a diferent way of working for sure, i can fill 4 dumpy bags inside and still fit the chipper in the back, chuck the logs on the top of the bags and away i go. i hardly use it now as i have the mog, Gloria is having a wee bit of hibernating and Ldv is away for her MOT.
  21. I've used a Luton van with tail lift, it's been excellent, If u need to take stuff away I just put it in ton bags and remove. I've also got a tracked barrow so its great for that too.
  22. Awesome pic there Drew!! But it's not quite Mark Bolam awesome:lol:
  23. Panniers!!!! What a girl! Was that for your plimsoles:001_rolleyes:
  24. Sometimes you look so buff and manscaped John, other times, well you dont:laugh1: Cracking pic:thumbup1:
