  1. He only had one ball; Himler had something similar and Goebels had no balls at all. Godwin's Law has kicked in...it's all over.
  2. That's one of my main things, my eldest is fine for getting in the back of my 3dr car now and clipping him self in, then i check it before we set off. But im also going to make a sort of ply box to put in the back for my kit. Mainly to keep it clean from chain oil etc- Hence another need for doors. It's all between d40 navara and ranger. I am going towards a king cab. If you go for the D40 make sure you check the chassis thoroughly.
  3. Bad news Alan. I'll keep a local eye open for it.
  4. The farmer should be covered for this with his insurance. I did some occasional work for someone years ago and this was a fairly common job we did. Lift out the worst with a fork and then top dress and seed.
  5. It's 100 metres and took six days. Farmer has now given me another 100m and I thought my season was finished.
  6. It's built upright ie not laid off far from the base to the top and worked between stakes which is similar to Cheshire and Derby but the top is bound in tight using what's available from the hedge itself. All the brush is to one side which would originally the stock side and the face would have been the plough side......in the days of traditional rotation.
  7. If you'd looked at that map twenty years ago it would look very different. I'm sure they'll take a liking to the east soon.
  8. Thank you all for kind comments. Yes I do take a pride in my hedging. More time for it now that I hardly climb any more. Official grumpy old git now :-)
  9. It's living. All the brush is built into one side of hedge.
  10. Last Stafford style cutting of the season. A wet morning to bangle it and throw rubbish over fence. Standard kinky quicks that had to be straightened and stake line pushed out here and there to get a tight build. Bonus was ravens nesting in Scots pine.
  11. The only way to stop their removal is to get TPOs on them.
  12. Wasn't life so much simpler years ago. Everything now has to be hyped up; made more complicated. Bloody hell....I've turned into my Dad!
  13. I am definitely mega grumpy. I recently had to stay in a hotel whilst on a course. Couldn't work out how the shower controls worked; couldn't work out how to stop the lights going off and couldn't work the usb charger that was linked to the TV. I just need to stick to my axe and saw!
  14. I think it's a case of what they will make eventually.
  15. I'm buying the house. It's about 200 years old so the insulation is on par with that! The old chap who lived there just had the back boiler which heated four rads and hot water. Is it not just a simple swap over to existing pipework once the fireplace is sorted out? I'm really not too bothered with a super duper system or with it being fantastically warm apart from the main living room. The upstairs I was hoping just to be warmed with the existing rads. Seems it could be complicated!
  16. I did say I was tight :-)
  17. Quite a set up there. For the main room I'd need 6kw. I had thought along the lines of 10-12kw with the added bonus of 500mm logs.
  18. But my wood's free! Coal would work but I'm a tight git.
  19. Has anyone any experience with them? I had one years ago and remember how feeble it was trying to heat the rads and the room it sat in. I shall, hopefully, be moving shortly and the cottage has an open fire with a back boiler to four rads and hot water. I've heard so many bad things about them ie. heating water but not room or vice versa to not doing either unless they're at full chat which backs up my own experience. Do I fit a boiler stove or go with a higher output stove and open the door to the stairs and let the heat rise :-) Any opinions and recommendations gratefully received. Thanks.
  20. So sad. Would it be possible to copy this piece and show it to other chainsaw users? Thank you.
