  1. Red voids warranty on strato saws. No one reads owners manuals any more. De Ja Vu!
  2. Obviously the 750 was 750 kg version: I think from memory there was little in it, spare wheel absent on the 750, unbraked so a weight saving there? Slightly shorter hopper. I used to know the differences but a distant memory sorry.
  3. Ivy = anti measuring fluff. Just convert and measure. For all the grief I'd offer £15/tonne for that.
  4. About right. Used to get a £1 for a log, 50p for a bar or rail on piece rate; this was in 1995-1997. Chain was £1/inch then and still is now! Pics attached are what chainsaw courses teach now: note to landowners - you don't save a penny using them to bugger up your woods!
  5. I've never seen moss cutting like that before - thanks as that made for interesting watching and I searched for a few more like it. Does it dry out sitting on top the field for the coming season? Seems they do sausage harvesting too! [ame] [/ame]
  6. 20 metre crane?!
  7. Not read the article; but where's the planting?! Insane lack of it...
  8. From a metallurgy POV the LR 2.7/3.0 TD6 is a good unit. 60 degree V made from compacted vermicular graphite cast iron - much better than an alloy block. Tis the Ford PSA unit fitted to Jaguar S class, Pug 2.7 HDi etc.
  9. Had one. Merc engine isn't as great as it ought to be. Leccy probs and very expensive parts.

  11. Hmmm, I thought the LC looked 1/3 beefier in important areas... Puma engine? 2.2? 2.2 is pints of milk, not what should be in a truck. More like it.
  12. SIGN 1950'S VINTAGE ADVERTISING MCCULLOCH CHAINSAW EMBOSSED NEW OLD STOCK | eBay
  13. If Carlsberg sold fertiliser...
  14. This has been to death on here before. Last 8 wheeler I had in was with 12 months stacked roundwood. 19 tonnes, 24 metres. Mixed hardwood and softwood. All depends on the m/c. Sky's the limit with dry timber. Only accept m3 if the stuff is as straight as softwood and you agree with the stack measure on the lorry. 0.7-0.75 for bars, 0.55 used to be hardwood. Poker straight h/wood at 0.55 you'd be laughing.
  15. It's the same with everything: boats, diggers, plant in general, automobiles. All raising bmep in the hope of poke without smoke. Mazda being one exception... good on em... Most 8 tonne excavators have gone from ~4 litre engines to 3 and lower. CASE gone down to 2.2, Volvo 2.6...
  16. Eat my soot! Long Live Diesel Power! [ame] [/ame]
  17. They missed (or a missing) a trick there. Re the Nissan 2.8 atmo - that was just a google sorry and a used Patrol looksee. Don't know much about them. Funny how the Toyota 4.2 has almost legendary status yet Nissans similar one much less known about? http://www.4wdaction.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=136333
  18. The 4.2 was naturally aspirated; the 2-8 blown.
  19. Patrol? 2.8 and 4.2 options
  20. LHD tho; you have to pay more for RHD. Leisurely hp spread over 4.2 litres and 6 cylinders = long life, durability, pure pleasure imo. Watch yer HG with that setup. Not quite as durable as you'd think that motor. Alloy block has its limits.
