  1. 1.8 vvti engine? As I was reckoning before I even started searching this motor, oil control ring, ring grooves... 3 holes which are for oil control return...
  2. Would that meet VW 505.01 for instance?
  3. I assume the miles are on the high side? That's very high consumption. Clouds of blue smoke? Current Multigrade in the crankcase? Low saps avoid poisoning the after treatment but does the engine no favours at all; valvetrain durability the main casualty.
  4. Fuel and Oil both contribute to deposits mate hehe
  5. Useful video. [ame] [/ame]
  6. Tax on Aspen in the UK for road use cos we're all runing our cars on aspen
  7. I think Wanner are the Rolls Royce. But the Samoa is phenomenal value. Personally I've had minor air lock issues but prob more my fault ref cartridge storage, loading etc.
  8. Is the video available still?
  9. It's a SAMOA. Driven over one with the harvester, still worked. Cheap from Hydroscand <£20 from memory.
  10. 20" on full comp.
  11. Well one disadvantage of RL is poe basestock can be hydroscopic. But all the other saws have been running fine from the same can today. Aspen, yeah I'm signing up seriously. Mesh filter in the carb was spotless apparently. Interestingly, the fuel came from an Esso forecourt with a Tesco Shop. But the saw was just as problematic on the shops fuel mix.
  12. Last time after shop intervention (it got there in a warm car) it ran was lunchtime; would start not bad and idle ok but completely die on any throttle. Checked H+L, no progress made. By this time we'd lost 3 hours on this saw so enough was enough.
  13. Tried a different mix - made no difference. Original fuel worked fine in another saw. Echo.
  14. Only seemed to be the choke butterfly, not the throttle one...
  15. CS600; can't believe it would be carb icing at 12 degrees
  16. Well after wasting £40 at a Garden Machinery shop who say they fitted a new plug, 1 of 2 carb diaphragms and a few other checks the saw is now dead... They were frankly clueless. But then so am I. Just dies after startup, hard to start, basically shelved as non production isn't costed in.
  17. Saw running a but funny. Spark plug perfect colour. Found white emulsion on choke flap. Spray off, comes back almost instantly with air cleaner off (so that you can watch it). Fresh fuel this week. ??? Thank you.
  18. Predecessor to 956? Brilliant I would imagine. Best 6 pot of many.
  19. £7 is rather low. Now you got me wondering who that was as I saw PCC doing it themselves and I know who else tendered for it...
  20. Can't remember the make, black one from Hydroscand, will update....
  21. Indeed. The better the oil the wider the margin of safety with insufficient UCL in the mix; I would hazard that castor and RL would survive the worst lean-off / over-rev / over-heat / scenario. Ditto. Ultimate Fuel. That's right on the whole BUT there are FC oils that out-perform FD oils in lubricity terms such as RL; simple reason the basestock is clean enough not to require the anti-oxidation and other additives / detergents required for FD. FTR, RL is widely regarded as the best money can buy; there are some Motul / AMS / Silkolene products hot on their heels, but none are 100% POE basestock. Echo Power Blend is higher performing than Stihl Ultra and Husky. Not lower smoke tho, despite being FD. Black art lol.
  22. Bath is tops too...
