  1. A 600 yes - has cut 1000's tons of timber. 620 gives that extra so suits an 18 or 20" B&C better
  2. My guess is that it wouldn't be a whole 1kW but perhaps 0.6-0.8. No doubt, Echo choose to down-tune for longevity and lower engine stresses. The 620SX is very slightly down on the classic 60cc output of 4.6hp; I kinda respect them for refusing to push it.
  3. Oh the memories
  4. My thoughts exactly.
  5. There is oak log near my yard supposed to be worth £100/metre; it sits there and sits there and sits there...
  6. Firewood worth more I'll bet.
  7. Correct. The best between exeter and kehelland.
  8. Yes it's on an 18 now. Prefer it on 16 for obvious reasons - is simply mental on that. Came with a 20 but doesn't sparkle on it.
  9. £200 for the echo; PS-5105 £435 inc vat PS-6100 £498 inc vat
  10. I import the non CE yank ones; Shavey on here is yer man for CE marked Dollies. Ive got a nice Echo CS-600 for sale; perfect firewood saw on a 16" or 18" b&c.
  11. >10 £8.15/t 10>20 £9.15 20>30 £10.15 30>40 £10.85 40>50 £11.55 50>60 £12.75 60>70 £13.05 70>80 £13.65 80>90 £14.15 90>100 £14.45 100>110 £14.95 110>120 £15.45 120>130 £16.25 130>140 £16.75 miles
  12. been down this road before. Time I took a flippin photo to show the differences. Why Mak keep BS'ing is beyond me or they are too thick to look deeper.
  13. I got a pair of size 11 brand new, too small need 12's. (on the offchance you need the other way round). Haven't got round to sending them back yet.
  14. Catch up boy, CE marked imports been available for a while and first shop now stocking them in Derbyshire somewhere and a rather well known dealer about to... Cheers, beat me to it.
  15. +1. Must admit (not showing off promise ) but I can eye a parcel now and guess the volume better than measuring. My guess vs agents abbreviated tariff and I've always won lol. I tend to count rows and stocking density x form height x typical dbh etc. Variables are draw / thinning stage / species and so on.
  16. Echo or Dolmar; PS6100 can be had for under £500. Sawtroll will be along in just a minute to slate echo and dolmar
  17. I just sent them a right snotty email; cc'd to head office in Japan.
  18. Echo showed complete idiocy by not having a stand at the APF. Some phenomenal new products and only F&A there pushing the product. Shame on you Countax.
  19. Sub it out to a forestry contractor (an experienced one).
  20. Would be glad to see them fail. Woolworths I felt sorry for, tesco more than deserves to go down. Hate them. They have a negative influence; cheap and nasty.
  21. +1. Stuff went for high prices as tavistock types love an auction.
  22. Abbey PLY also gone. Wouldn't give them the business either. None of these in cornwall anyway.
  23. I don't disagree with a lot of that from your perspective. Cutters prices higher than euros is a shock to me; the whole model is that they make a quid or two on products from the cutter: BUT: the reason we all sell to euro is cashflow i.e. better to sell a load of wood at 25/m and get paid pronto than 30/m and be chasing the money. Plus they make it on the haulage too. I very nearly sold some log to a local sawmill - very glad I didn't as they've no money to pay anyone.
  24. This is getting like the yes and no campaign. It's just wood! Dries out in the roundwood stack, obviously slower than cut & split. Sometimes fast, sometimes ages: too many variables. I've seen 6" ash roundwood barn stored and still mid thirties after two years after one 9" ring cut off. I've had same size beech in the open except under black sheeting at 24% right through the stick after 5 months.
