  1. aye, "pre-ignition"
  2. Ages ago I started a thread on here about an engine oil (diesel) research project I was involved in and still am - the initial time period for the project has been stretched to 5 years (used to do research for the TRL so been in and out of the business for years). We've recently paused the testing to carry out integrative fuel testing since we needed to re-bench the fuel quality in the tests. The above two quotes are included as although we have a way to go before we decide the best derv for our purposes the mainstream vs supermarket theory is quite accurate; refinery source the same, 9/10 yes, additive package not at all similar. Thus far we have found staggering differences between best and worst case fuels in mixed duty consumption but remember multiple variables have to be ironed out including: 1) Barometric Pressure. 2) Relative Humidity. 3) Ambient Temp. 4) Point in service cycle (i.e. around UOA) 5) etc 6) etc 7) etc
  3. Major advantage.
  4. Yes that's who I already contacted. They 'phoned me back today to say it will be with them in a week so stuck with that . Decked a few more today managing without it but as I get further and further from the rack the sticks will need to be bang on 90 degrees to it to reach so it will be right on time
  5. I'm doing the edge trees with the BGU 9.5 but damned if I'm hand cutting the rest of the crop with a sledge and wedge in small lanky timber. for free my arse
  6. 20% on wholesale roundwood / other; 5% on domestic / end user / retail logs. Firewood merchants have a serious love affair with cash (I wonder why) which drives us cutters and hauliers mad; what can we do with cash?! Costs us money. Said merchants imo should just do it properly; if they're paying 20% on raw material and charging 5% (assuming they're vat reg'd) on sales they are in theory between 10 and 15% better off based on 20% on one ton producing 2 x 1m3 loads with 5% on each...
  7. Thanks. Get what you pay for and all that. Think this was the Clark one: Stalpen - Mechanical Tree Jack
  8. Can't find it on the logosol site; you got a link? PS there's 2 on ebay; look and priced v similar to reipal but doesn't feel right... ebay lol I might just have to wait; probably get a few hundred over without it.
  9. I need to do atleast 1600 small leaners back to the rack...
  10. 'Phoned Orion up today - guestimate 2 weeks wait on order for Tree Jack Model #2; they had #1 and #5 in stock. I'll never want the 5, don't really want the #1. Anywhere else I can get one or similar? Many thanks.
  11. Binned the idea (sorry). Will stick with loose loads / tipper. Human touch in a thin p margin product - just doesn't add up; would a backwards step trying to bag em. Forwarder to log deck to processor to truck to customers driveway =
  12. Is there anything anywhere that so represents the best this nation once was?!
  13. PS: Ya'all need to see this: First Light on Vimeo
  14. hahaha BMW getting the browning treatment!!! :laugh1:
  15. Beautiful beautiful engineering. Fair play to R J Mitchell; The First of the Few. R. J. Mitchell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  16. :thumbup::thumbup:
  17. pitch your feedback on here
  18. You've been had somewhat imo. 0.6 for spruce is low for starters; was it that poor form? Was it log / bar or what? Usually bar for shavings... The agent sounds like the ol typical agents - always check for a fin halfway down their back. Don't deal with them again, feeding you proper BS. Best POA - miss out the agent and deal with haulier / buyer yourself. I'm assuming by agent you mean individual not eurof et al
  19. Precisely and then some
  20. Husqvarna buying out Stihl?! I've heard it all now. Ridiculous nonsense.
  21. I had it on rather official authority that Stihl were first with the electronics; husq merely allowed to copy it and couldn't make it work to start with i.e. 560 problems etc.
