  1. Thanks. Saw a load of that driving through the borders. FC sites maybe? It was all over the place.
  2. Apparently so but I have had no issues with mine with the exception of bogie gear repairs from the ol failed bearing; I check those bearings very regularly.
  3. Parts sorry; JASPW has a few, not needed any others! If I had nothing better to do I'd do a nut and bolt restoration but can't see that ever happening; heater and cab comfort parts probably a non starter. IH parts dead easy. Base unit transmission - clock ticking no doubt; have to have them made I guess.
  4. It really is confusing! The 678 had a turbo'd IH DT239 3.9L producing 62kW@2400rpm and 285 Nm torque at 1600rpm thus 83 horsepower. Compression ratio 12:1 Now tractordata says the 84 hydro engine (IH D246 4.0L) produces 65 hp but other info from this unopenable link (https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Bruunett+Mini+578+F+forwarder.+Dimensions+and+ergonomics+%28Bruun+System+AB,+Filipstad,+Sweden%29:+The+forwarder+is+powered+by+a+4-cyl.+4030+cm3,+56+kW+engine+and+is+fitted+with+500+-+22.5+tyres+all+round.+The+cab+dimensions,+seat+and+controls+characteristics,&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gws_rd=cr&ei=0tvQVcC7Oomta8TelsAF) says it produces 56kW thus 75 horsepower! I'm guessing the atmo D239s and D246s came in various power outputs. The Bruunett 578 had the skid unit from the 84 hydro but that link throws doubt on it... :confused1:
  5. So after years of thinking my 578 had a IH D239 engine it hasn't; rather it has a D246 from the 84 Hydro Unit.
  6. Lol, you don't!!! You speak only positives about Husqvarna and negatives about EVERYTHING else. You can't see it can you?!
  7. Not when we got ours and Yes
  8. What ya gonna use it for?... Uniforest is darn good value for money no doubt But I wouldn't put one on a forwarder... For instance tapping the logs in flush to a timber stack will muller a Uniforest.
  9. Sorry, I'm not on a mission to discredit them, I simply think they've done that themselves. How many countless reported and unreported failures have there been of these systems? This forum has hundreds alone. I've got mates with sheds full of sub 1y/o 560's seized, fallen to bits, etc etc. Gone back to using old Stihl 036s and so on, and sod the vibes and fumes. MS461 seems to be the only "modern" saw that has reason to be proud of itself.
  10. We got the Uni 1300 on a 5 tonne excavator; it's slightly bent now but done a lot of work. None of these are upto the Cranab / Hultdins standards but neither do they cost their money.
  11. I hate humbugs. No, actually I love them.
  12. So you've gone from hating them to having another. Cue another autotune abortion, not wishing it on you of course, but trusting it will disgrace itself sufficiently for one to realise there really is revelation elsewhere. No offence intended but two of your own posts earlier in this thread showed exasperation with the whole Husqvarna / Stihl "problem".
  13. When you say Riko grabs do you mean Uniforest or their own?
  14. 461 rather than 440. Or a Dol 7910...
  15. What a load of hassle!
  16. Derv was last cheaper than petrol about 20+ years ago:thumbup1: (in the good old days )
  17. What it was made for
  18. When you buy a Dolmar you are buying not just a saw, but into a new and better type of saw ownership; in this case it often comes with Demonstrator saws, genuine knowledge of the parts and history side of things, a specialised service from Shavey that has more enthusiasm and passion for the brand than all the UKs chainsaw shops put together. Plus advice, old fashioned support and so on.
  19. Just pm him for a price
  20. No, Shavey DOES sell them...
  21. Into the abyss / black hole...
  22. Quality comes with Gravity
  23. Yes the CS550 is a no-go since it's a very detuned 620sx which is a blinding saw. If you want something reliable to rival a 550xp get the CS450 ported (they leave a lot on the table to play with) or a Dolly..
  24. Picked up one today with HD filter and full wrap handle; within 10 seconds I wanted one! The full wrap feels so "right". Shavey is your man for one...
