  1. Is he a fellow arb or car dealer - you wont get much chip on it? I think its good posting suspicious sales on here, if I had my gear robbed and it ended up on fleabay I'd want someone to question it or bring attention to it someone may recognise it and give the heads up. If the stuff is legit then the guy wont have anything to be concearned about will he! IMO there is far too many guys getting saws, chippers, equipment etc. stolen and this less chance these criminal get of reselling it the better, and if they get caught in the process then happy days!
  2. I'd rather my machines be out working and earning me tree work money rather than out on a operator hire. But if its sat in the yard its better to be out on hire than giving no return at all! I found on the odd day we have done operator + chipper on a day rate we arrive to a pile of brash as big as a house and the chipper is in full use constantly for the day (which is fair enough as the hirer wants to get his monies worth) so its getting a hammering more so than maybe on an average tree job. Therefore I would charge at the higher rate as its adding xxx hours to the machine and possibly 3 days or more's worth of wear on it.

  5. While learning the names I would also learn 3-4 arboriculutral significances for each one which may take a little longer but should be easier to remember as a bundle and will also help identify them as you will know host trees etc. Just a thought - good luck pal!
  6. I have a team of 4 full time on fence installations/landscaping, they sometimes help out the tree teams when needed too.

  17. Required for Thursday and Friday this week an extra pair of hands in Coventry, groundsman or climber to fill a space due to swine flu! PM if your interested.
  18. This is what we use, dead handy for getting the chipper where the truck cant tow it and drives nicely onto the back of the transit. Only downfall is its only 2wd but its fast!!
