  1. Yeah I think £9 an hour is fair. Most day's you'll be sitting in the truck for an average of two hours driving from one place to another so in real terms you'll only work for seven hours max bumping up your hourly rate to £11.57 an hour......
  2. Doesn't matter, at least you went out and got one. Now you can get some long slow miles in over the winter and be fit for next summer.....
  3. Had the same problem this week. Called for a price on a new truck on Tuesday, got an answer on Friday after I badgered em all week....long story short they ponced me about so much I decided they can shove their Canter where the sun don't shine.
  4. Well yeah, when I was an employee I would do as I was told no matter what.
  5. That's just about the crappiest bit of hitchcord that money can buy and yet it still works no matter what. Stuff yer mechanical devices.
  6. Anytime John.... Glad it's worked out well for you.
  7. You can forget about an invite to the BAFTA's now Andy. Cross him off the list Silky.
  8. Get an early night Silky, we got two appearances and some book signing to do tomorrow. Careful what you say in here from now on! We don't want any of this lot blabbin' this n that to the press......
  9. For £24.99 you can have a signed photograph and become a member of his fan club. Just send the cheque to his agent in Rainham Kent.......
  10. It's already done, the company that made Inside Nature's Giants for channel 4 are looking into it. It may take a long time before they decide though. I told em all about Arbtalk and Silky and to have a look at the thread for themselves.
  11. Over trimming and at the wrong time of year. I do my regular hedges in March and April, that way they look nice for the summer and put on some growth which protects them from windburn during the winter. If I get any hedge work come in at this time of year I'll give em a light once over then advise the client to have them done properly in the spring.
  12. Cycling with intent to cut down a tree. How do you plead Silky?
  13. Drunk in charge of a push bike.......consider yourself nicked sunshine....
  14. Get some pics then, loved the baseball ones..... Good thread btw....
  15. Just buy a new bg 86, £200 or thereabouts. Time you've found a good s/h one you'll be paying about a oner for it and replacing it in a year or two. Things like that should always be bought new. That's my advice.
  16. Never climb without mine. I couldn't go back to fannying around trying to find the scabbard dangling of my harness. Never had a problem with mine.
  17. That is one brilliant pic Mark, a classic, I picked up on it straight away.... Same as the last one, one to remember.... Cheers Silky, you're an absolute star mate and I enjoyed every minute of your company.......
  18. :lol:Not as funny as your answer to my question during our phone conversation. Rich was in Marks truck at the time and looking at the map. "How far are you away from the job Rich"? "About an inch and a half"
  19. Drinking comp it is then. Three hairy arsed norverners versus one shandy sipping suvverner. I'm on home turf though, so I'll have the edge and drink all three of ya under the table......
  20. Thirty years of doing this job, eighteen working for myself and I still get it wrong from time to time. Usually when I'm in a rush and want to be elsewhere rather than pricing.
  21. Rich's for 6.30 tonight, tent, sleeping bag and beer at the 'Arborists Arms' pub. AKA Mark Bolams back garden.....
