  1. Maplin's sell them, mine a Westfire which is very good - I bought it from my local stove shop.
  2. No I am based in Nottinghamshire !
  3. Yes the wood was in the round for 2 years under cover but outside. I would never dream of selling processed wood that was green.
  4. Again thank you for all your advice, I am aware about seasoning, the proof is in the pudding the wood burns incredibly well giving off loads of heat !
  5. Thanks again for all your advice !
  6. Thanks that was the reply I was hoping I would get Many thanks Matthew
  7. Thanks for the reply, the wood is in large rounds average around 16 inches, and the moisture meter is correct as I have tested it on other seasoned wood. Matthew
  8. Hi, the moisture meter is a Westfire, It does work as I have tried it on other wood I have processed . The wood is a mixture, ash sycamore and some oak.
  9. I hope you can help, I bought some timber in rounds, it has been down 2 years ( I know where it came from), it was stored outside but undercover. The moisture content when split ranges from 35% - 39%, yet it feels dry and very light it is all hardwood. I have burnt it on my open fire, it does release a small amount of moisture but not much and not for long. Then the wood burns a treat !. My questions is: Why would the moisture content reading be so high yet the wood burns great and gives of a huge amount of heat ?. Thanks in advance Matthew
  10. I buy cordwood all year so spreading the cost's of the raw material. I like the fact that if I need bigger/smaller logs I can process them myself to order. I know that is it is dry enough for the customer as I know how log it has been stored. I know what type of wood I am selling and that it is a good mixture of different types of wood. More importantly I enjoy the whole process of supplying good quality logs, locally sourced and locally processed !.
  11. PM sent !
  12. I recommend the customer brings their wood inside 24 hours before use, a week seems excessive and not very practical.
  13. Hi, I have the same van it is great getting down narrow drives, however it is not very good at all in the snow or muddy fields. I would strongly recommend buying a set of snow chains as well as winter tyres. I have pm you as I was wanting to do something similar to my van.
  14. Working on the theory if you don't ask you will never know !
  15. Hi, As the title I am after 50 tons of seasoned cordwood, I am based in Nottinghamshire, There is good access to the yard where I am based. Many thanks Matthew
  16. Hi,

I was wondering do you know how old the wood is ? Do you know what the cost would be to Newark in Nottinghamshire ?

    Many thanks

    Matthew

  17. I usually tell the customer the size of the logs I sell - 8", as part of the answers to their numerous questions. Every so often I get a customer asking for 12-14" logs, I tell them the size of my logs are approx 8" and say "You can fit a small log in a big stove but you can't fit a large log in a small stove"
  18. Here here, I dry mine in the barn all year round and the wind helps dry them out !
  19. Competition is good, if your product is the best and good value then you should have no need to worry.
  20. I cut my logs about 8", if I get asked if I do 14" logs (not that often) I say you can fit a small log in big stove but you can't fit a big log in a small stove ! It seems to work.
  21. Hi I have a 2nd hand one for sale, we no longer require it. Thanks Matthew
  22. I have had my busiest summer yet. Last year I gave a discount for people buying in the summer this year I have kept the prices the same!
  23. Very Funny !
  24. Maplins are quite good
  25. That's true, they are no good in wet/snow
