  11. It burns very quickly if well seasoned, but gives off a good heat, I would mix it with other wood and not sell it by itself.

  17. I have access to a forest with fallen down ash tree’s ( I think they have been down a while), I’ve been to look at it today, the tree’s I have been looking at have fallen and are off the ground. If the trees are not rotten do you think that once they are split they will be ready this season ?. Thanks
  18. I know that is a very very long shot but I thought I would give it a go, does any one know where I could get 10 - 20 tons of hard wood that I can process that would be ready to sell this season ? I am based in Nottinghamshire. I am aware that rocking horse s*** is easier to find but working on the theory that if you don't ask you will never no, I thought I would give it a go. Many thanks
  19. I already have someone in mind, who has helped me in the winter on a part time basis.
  20. I have a machine a Jappa 700.
  21. I wonder if any one can help, I am thinking about hiring someone to help process wood, I have insurance in place but was wondering if any one had a template for a contract I could use to give him. Thanks
  22. I have Toyota Dyna tipper, when it snowed I put the snow chains on !. Worked a traet.
  23. I joined this forum last year, as I had just started my own firewood business. Over the last 12 months I have logged in most days and checked the many threads to learn from the experts. This web site has given me invaluable advice - from buying a moisture to meter to finding out what Ash looks like !. I started selling firewood in 2008 due to unemployment; my previous profession had been hit hard by the recession. I had absolutely no idea about selling firewood, I bought a 2nd hand Jappa 700 from Sweden (I flew over to check it out although I had no idea what I was looking at) a tractor from eBay (again no idea what I should be looking for) and managed to find a great wood supplier. After almost 2 years out of my original profession I managed to find a job, but I’m still keeping the log business going. When I started I was delivering in my Toyota Rav 4 with a very small trailer, I have bought a Toyota Dyna tipper which I love and have moved to a larger space to process the wood and have taken on part time help. The point of this thread is say thank you to everyone who unbeknown to them via their posts have helped me set up a great business.
  24. I got mine from Maplin. It works a treat !
  25. Thanks for the advice, will give it a go and report back.
