  1. Nice shots Dave. The old girl was a fair size. Looked like a cracking day.
  2. Genius Pad! Use DEET all the time, but it is nasty stuff. Will try the sandalwood and Avon stuff (have heard mixed reports on this). Will be up at Kielder next week, so that will be a fair test.
  3. If I eat any more garlic I swear I would turn French!
  4. I seem to attract mozzies, midges etc., and react badly as well. Always have done. I always carry decent repellent, and this normally does the trick, but now and again the little buggers slip through the chemical net, or nail me when I get out the shower etc. Does anyone out there have any tips on how I can improve things? I'm particularly interested to see if anyone has had any luck with diet stuff, B vitamins etc. Thanks.
  5. Sorted that for you Jack! Decent shape achieved despite previously maimed tree and poor spec, I reckon.
  6. Not Red Oak or Pin Oak according to my book. Leaves were big, some 6-7 inches long.
  7. Thought this was a big old Turkey Oak from afar, but the leaves are wrong. I'm stumped, so is my tree ID book!
  8. I thought the same thing! Would be a great addition to Justins show. Top prize could be a double-bit axe worth about £100. All profits to the local A&E.
  9. Thanks for all your kind words lads. Dutchie has just been sniffing every blade of grass in the outlaws garden waiting for her little pal to jump out and start scrapping with her. Tough time.
  10. BIG tree fellas. That car looks like a Dinky toy! 2.5m wing span? You wouldn't want that taking an interest in you!
  11. Many of you have met Hennie, aka Von Barrington, the Worlds naughtiest little dog. She belonged to my parents in law, but spent most days out with us. Sadly, she died yesterday during an operation to try and remove a ruptured spleen. This happened totally out of the blue, she was fine on Saturday and had been full of hell all week. She was only 3. I can't begin to describe how bad I feel at the moment, but the memories of her antics will live forever.
  12. Chipper mate. Shredders win on dirty stuff like pondweed etc. but the 'chip' quality is poor. Greenmech do (or did?) a chipper/shredder combo. Pete B on here could fill you in on that.
  13. Stone-in-Oxney mate. I'm impressed. You obviously know your ditches! This one feeds the Royal Military Canal, which goes through Ruckinge. You are obviously not that far north!
  14. Depends what you need to chip/shred.
  15. After this ditch clean up, Stevo fully deserved a pipe but found his baccy slightly damp.
  16. Ha ha. That will be you in 40 years time Rob. Well, 20....
  17. I've got 'Falling for It', Billy, cracking book. What's his second?
  18. I should have mentioned that pipesmoking can damage your health. This lamb is showing the effects of years of pipesmoking abuse.
  19. Toughened him up for when he worked as a bouncer in The Percy Ross! I'm up in a couple, will be in touch.
  20. Flat out! My new pricing policy of 3 men + truck + chipper at £200/day has worked a treat! I'll get back to you all at the year end with profit figures.
  21. I'm even more gutted now. We could have all met on Lorry's site, had a few beers watching Steve Bullman smash out the Beech (well me and Andy Collins would), and been at the show for breakfast.
  22. Can't make it, though I'm from about 15 miles away but now live in Kent. My Dad and Mam are coming down this weekend to meet my new daughter, after my Dad's School reunion in Derbyshire. They are in their 70's, mind. Gutted. Was looking forward to stagger around haggling with the Gustharts lads in a Mockney, accent and ending up in a pickle in a curry house or Chinese in Ponteland. With Bullman and Collins no doubt! Lorry and Sparko, I'm up at the end of May, I'll be in touch. Have a good one lads. And lasses. My sexism skills are legend!
