  1. Haha as little as possible cos if they have to sub out they generally have little work. Your right though, subbing out is less money.
  2. Buying new saws, insurance, costly break down all add up. The 45p a mile won't cover buying a new one though will it? At that rate Eggs he's making a good wage, totally different to running a business and trying to grow.
  3. To put it into perspective guys, Atkinsons fencing (a reasonable sized business round leeds who sell, manufacturer and install) charge 550 a day for 2 men and there always busy! And that's for 2 men,a truck and some digging gear!!! This industry will never change until people price properly as a business and stick to there guns!
  4. Day rates are for building sites where things change by the hour not domestics, but some round me still have totally knackered kit and still do day rates!
  5. I try not to work on day rates, but 2 men and kit must be 400+vat any less and you might aswell stop at home.
  6. Cool give me a bell tomorrow.
  7. Going to sort one this week, so what's the score with reliability? Is it miss use eg poor fuel, leaving them out side etc,I only ask as there's loads on the bay for spares or repair.
  8. Thanks Eggs, I have sent him a message so will be in touch. I like dealing with guys like this who can go the extra mile to help someone out.
  9. Thanks Eggs! Is he hard work?
  10. Thanks mate yes please.
  11. Thanks guys, much appreciated. will go for a hot one then, No jonny I wont get a hong kong skip a long one, a re conned karcher or the likes. Thanks eggs, might sniff him out.
  12. I totally agree mate, there's guts working for wages.
  13. Are parker motors better Dean? Did you get my message the other day?
  14. Just wondered if its so much better to have a hot washer for jetting trucks, chippers and grinders off that a standard cold washer, obviously hot cleans better but there expensive and seem to be very problematic with the heating elements etc, just wondered what others did before I buy one.
  15. I like multi tip for speed of grind and easy changes,I don't sharpen much as the wheels are expensive and the dust v bad for heath, I normally tickle them up once or twice and then get rid,if you want 5hem white noise pm me.
  16. Haha! To be fair I would only remove a third party's trees with there say so regardless of who is paying the bill, that was your mistake not Gary or sues. Respond to the letter and go round and see both of them together.
  17. Yeah I'm with you, love the build quality but the hydraulics just seemed week.
  18. Are the bigger chippers better that the small ones ? Build quality is nuclear proof bur I just wasn't impressed with roller power and throughput.
  19. Spot on, I wouldn't admit to having a tracker or accept a reduction in premiums, it's another bit of ammo for them to use to wriggle out of paying!
  20. Lovely hat rack! Looks like she got what she asked for.
  21. Thats me out then. And I was only thinking about buying a TW the other day. Have **** out again
  22. I wasn't bothered about going but looked at the price out of intrest, think it's taking the pee to be honest, £ 30 a piece to get in is day light robbery.
  23. Anvils/shear bars are one half of the cutting system,if one side of the system is dull performance will drop.
  24. If your having to even think about making scaffolding your doing something wrong! Price the job to get proper equipment in, if they don't want to pay for said equipment walk away and let someone else have the hassle and possibly serious injury!
  25. Or he might of gone for a bigger machine.
