  1. company i subbie for now and then has 6 or 7 rangers and found them to be ok, one fault that was common in all of them is that they snap rear leaf springs. all of this companies fleet of rangers have had the springs break up and they werent even used for hauling stuff. trailed fuel bowser and thats it
  2. wouldnt totally agree. during maize 2 years ago i has an 820 axion and each time you changed gear the radio cut out!! forever had sensor problems from transmission and engine. im happy with something that if i forget the keys i can take the dipstick out and arc the started motor out and at least do some work!
  3. i spent enought time waiting for fitters to come out to replace stuff to warrant hating too much electronics. used to drive a valtra that would short out the spool switches and tip and 18 tonne trailer whilst travelling down road....... joy
  4. simple is good, a lever to a switch anyday. at least you can weld it back when u snap it
  5. give me an case mx and im happy, nice and simple and go on forever ( well til the rear brakes break up!)
  6. had a 7930 on hire for towing a chieftan lowloader full of fencing equipment around and found it to be jerky on the road
  7. there are so many variations but basically the further you push it forward the faster you go, engine revs are seperate switch. not sure about new mf boxes as havent driven any but i dont like the infinately variable transmissions of the 7930 deere i hired
  8. im against all that electonic crap!! lol no gears on a xerion, push lever forward or back and thats it. like driving a combine really
  9. yeah they good machine but sooooooooooo many electronics, i subbed for a firm who change theirs every 18 months and it takes a year to iron out all the bugs, during maize the other year i was playing connect 4 with warning lights on the computer screen in arm rest
  10. no load bay as the cab rotates and you need the vision for reverse drive capability. my mate was driving a xerion on road and came up on traffic jam, so he rotated the cab and drove off in opposite direction at same speed, you should of seen the motorists faces
  11. my thoughts exactly mate, vosa hold 3x 2 day roadside inspections at end of our farm drive so there no way i can get away with it and they real hot on carriers licenses in this area
  12. giles just like his picture on the atkinson vos website
  13. the xerion is ok, i found steering bit twitchy being 50k road speed and constant 4 wheel steering. having front and rear pto's and linkage and reverse drive capabilty make it a good vehicle for a wide range of tasks. might be a bit big for use in enclosed woodlands and it has a mass expanse of glass to break if something goes wrong
  14. jeez that guy running the saw is bloody tall!!!
  15. paying out for a processor in a business your unsure of may not be the best thing, if you dont mind spending the time could you not go for an old saw bench and seperate hydraulic splitter and cut down on your initial outlay? then if timber prices drop or supply or demand dies out your not out of pocket
  16. there is an american firm i found that makes a small bolstered timber trailer with crane and grab/ rotator, operater stands on drawbar and operates controls. not sure how much weight you can put on it as its pretty heavy duty and the americans have different towing regulations etc
  17. are there any sites on the net where i can download a part list for stihl chainsaws? cheers
  18. always a compromise with everything tho, i got 130hp mog and would like more power at times but for money i paid im more than happy. can always buy a bigger turbo
  19. the 1135 is same as newer 2140 etc only 50k boxes fitted. i liked the 3185. last of the ones with manual spools etc, not too electronic
  20. i reckon one of the older smaller fastracs would be ok, 1135 with 4 wheel steering are pretty good, manouvere well and nicely sized. handle weight better than a mog but not as quick or good off road, also havent really got a load bed apart from dog box on back
  21. i dont really rate fastracs, spent plenty of hours in them. they dont like anything thats not off orad, eat transmissions and parts are expensive, good fun tho
  22. like you say the simplicity of it is a big benefit and the price should be pretty competitive as there are minimal moving parts, what: 2 drive motors? bearings and blades. does it use pto pump or spool on tractor?
