  1. all this talk of orange flashing lights for transit roofs makes me think this should be added the the "what is a pikey?" thread
  2. i made the mistake of doing a large amount of tree work and fencing work for construction companies/ property developers this year. only just been paid for work i did in march and have been hit with every excuse and bit of paperwork possible in order to delay payment. one company went bust owing me 8 grand in all not happy
  3. oi! you forget about us insomniacs!!
  4. 235 are the same or near as damn it to 31's. you shouldnt hardly notice it, my old truck had 31's and was no difference to standard
  5. what size tyre are you gonna run? if its only 31 x 10.50 the effects will be barely noticeable. if it scrubs a touch on full lock wind your steering lock stops out and give the torsion bars a good cranking if you cant afford a lift kit. i run got a 2001 hilux turbo diesel with 37 x 12.50 tyres, thats 8 inches taller than standard tyres. my speedo is now out by 22mph!!! fuel consumption is dramatically increased, from 400miles per tank down to 290. torque is greatly reduced too. i changed my diff ratios and speedo drive gear ratio to compensate
  6. PM me your details mate, im based kent / east sussex border and if i get anything i need a hand on i will give you a call
  7. i wouldnt change my dog for the world, most entertaining thing i own!! never fails to bring a smile to my face whether it be catching pheasants flying under 6ft when ur beating on a posh shoot or when shes catching fish in the moat of the castle i was working at. if all my friends were as loyal as me dog i'd be happy!
  8. or if your really lucky like me, lucky find a housing developer that went mad with his 21 tonner and given you enough firewood to keep you going for years!!!
  9. from what i have seen from the regular EA and vosa alot of it seemed to be down to the arresting officers interpritation of the ruling. i have seen our local firewood guy pulled over and fined with a load of logs on board. also seen local tree surgeons fined for carrying chip
  10. i think alot of it can be down to the inpecting officers interpritation of the rules, as i have mentioned before the police, vosa and environment agency do 3 day long vehicle stop checks at the end of our farm drive. few weeks ago they fined an elderly woodsman for carrying logs in his truck, i chatted to him and he knew nothing of the license. it was all seasoned processed timber, not just freshly cut green waste being removed off site. how are logs waste? are they not a product? either way i got my license the other day
  11. you should be able to make a mounting plate with ease if you have access to welder etc, my home made rear winch mount is much much stronger than my 500 quid ARB winch bumper on the front
  12. not always mate, i got nearly a grands worth of warn hanging off front of my hilux and its been nothing but trouble!
  13. superwinch husky are good winches, slow retrieval rate but line speed barely changes whether it has no load or 3.5 ton on. i got one under the rear of my truck for pulling chipper into trailer. had a couple of competition spec warn winches but found them to be very fragile in terms of castings breaking
  14. have you heard of the ipone scented 2 stroke oil? an italian motocross gp team used to run the strawberry scented stuff in their race bikes! very different to the usual silkolene pro2 or castrol smells!!
  15. i think all the members from kent should have a day off roading together!!
  16. i have a local broker (wealden insurance services) put together a package which has £10m public liability cover as well as tool cover, its broken down into categories: mog and truck are under self propelled plant, trailers/ chippers are in static plant. then saws, blowers, brush cutters etc are in powered hand tools. silkys, fencing tools and mechanical tools are also covered too.
  17. use the beretta next time, no climing involved and the vat on a single cartridge is minimal
  18. i know how u feel mate, i hauled a good couple of lorry loads of timber to the edge of the wood, left it for a week over christmas last year to find it had all been nicked. no saw dust which meant they took whole lengths also no tyre marks so im guessing they hiabed over the fence. still spitting feathers over it now as it was gonna be this winters firewood supply
  19. hats off to ya mesterh, you got away with the motherload there! good few artic loads nicely stacked behind the fence
  20. We aint got no hardwood left either, going to have to start mooching about looking for timber to steal 10-10-08 10:02 PM was that you who hiabed all my timber last year then!!!
  21. theres a c250 for sale near me for £2750 looks to be ex hire firm
  22. i would do it sooner than later, bearing failure on the drop box will lead to premature failure on centre bearing (expensive!!) and possible pto drive UJ's. simple to do and not that dear if you use a bearing factor rather than main dealer
  23. since this photo was taken, the wing has been replaced and is now dent free. woop woop! spare wheel carrier removed and husky 10.5 fitted in place. arb winch bar raised to meet body lift
  24. heres my "work" toy. 37" x 15.50" super swamper tyres 7.5" suspension lift 3" body lift 8 x 6 tipper body twin winches locking diffs total hoot to drive and turns head just not very practical to load stuff........or get into!
  25. nice little motor there mate, i will look out for you on the mean streets of kent!
