  2. i havent a clue what machine it is but i know those wheels would be great on my hilux good work for hauling it up there, lots of little pedal!!!
  3. wasnt that saying taken from chris moyles show this week pete!!
  4. yeah, here we have an audi TT with the lastest ad on........ an upturned 18ton grain trailer as a roof rack!!
  5. definately!!!!! should of seen look on their faces when they saw that mess on the road!
  6. luckily it was empty when it went over, telehandler and a long set of chains and it was soon back on its wheels. always the ways when using those silage sides on the trailer. the residents of sevenoaks didnt like us leaving wheel marks on the grass verges where we turned into orchard so they parker cars there to protect it which made alot tighter angle getting in and out of gateway. bit of a slope combined with greasy tyres and top heavy trailer she fell over!
  7. ahh the joys of vehicle recovery!!! when u need a big winch like that u know ur stuck!! before i got brought onto that job as excavator driver the hire firm had supplied their own drivers with no experience other than digging footings. one guy managed to pull 3 track plates off with the root fork, put a tree through the front glass, tear the bonnet off and the best of all whilst working on a steep slope he lifted the boom up and when it hit its maximum the centre of gravity tipped the whole machine back, got a photo somewhere of a new komatsu 210 sitting on its counter weight leaning against a massive oak.
  8. my avatar is of a bad day carting chip!!!
  9. something to cook your dinner on then! smoke was terrible and you could bet every hour the country park rangers would be asking you to dampen it off or reduce the size of the fire. was a fun job apart from having to constantly rescue the forwarder and being brought in on the job halfway as the unexperienced drivers had smashed the hell out the machines
  10. would of liked to have burnt in situ but the specs said everything had to be carted to hard standing area on edge of park and to be burnt in comfined area and waste to be removed. year previous to that we were burning in the wood with 2 360's loading each fire and the wind changed and the smoke closed the nearby motorway. rhody clearance is good fun i agree
  11. mulching wasnt an option, customer wanted a sterile site. rhody was to be burnt then ash carted off site to be disposed of elsewhere. initially i thought we were contaminating the green waste with soil as we were having to repeatedly move the waste to areas where the forwarder could get access but when i did my turn loading the burner everything was clean. no matter whether you loaded an arm full or a grab full at a time it had no effect. was claimed to burn 20- 30 tonnes per hour but i think we were struggling to burn 5 an hour
  12. yup. i imagine it could be a very productive machine but we never got anywhere near the claimed output, perhaps because of the fresh green nature of the rhodies we found we were burning an equal amount of commercial wood waste to keep it alight.
  13. nice machinery there. those komatsu 360's are nice to work with. i like those jobs where you can get stuck in with big kit, did a big rhodie clearance job last year had 2 komatsu 21 tonners grubbing out into piles, forwarder extracting to an air burner with a telehandler to load. lots of metal in the woods that day
  14. im away working all this weekend but pm me your contact details and we can arrange to meet up. im still waiting for the client to give me conformation on what they want to do as i have given them various options regarding the clearance so once i know a bit more from them i will be able to let you know. what is the access like your end in regards to haulage?
  15. how much you after mate? its coming out of maidstone so not too far away from you.
  16. im looking at stacking at either of our farms now, perhaps sell off some of it as the firewood side of my business isnt that large. Like many of said dry it out in cords and sell it on. i got plenty of birch and hornbeam i can mix it in with so next year i should have a decent amount of good firewood. would it be better to sell as pure loads of apple and charge a higher rate or would it be better to mix it and charge going rate?
  17. what is the best way to sell it?? volume or weight?? how much is it worth??
  18. Can anyone give me some information on apple cord wood, does it make a good firewood or have any other markets? I got job grubbing out 12 acres of orchard, 250 trees per acre equates to 3000 trees total. Each tree has 4-5 feet of straight timber at roughly 8-9 inches before the crown spreads. Is there much of a market for this?
  19. im not sure if a conventional boom sprayer would be suitable as they are designed to be used horizontally rather than vertically. vinyard sprayers are best as you can position the heads to spray from above down onto trees / vines etc. alternatively you could use a hand lance with wide fan nozzle and just walk along length of hedge spraying strips. if you have the access for a quad or small compact tractor its really cheap and easy to fabricate a small boom / spot sprayer. i have made a few myself and they work really well
  20. i have a contract on a fruit farm who plant conifer hedging as windbreaks for the fruit trees, as you can imagine they are pretty substancial being double rows and being cut annually with the rotary head to 36ft in height. 2 years ago they had massive aphid damage to the windbreaks and it looks like alot were going to be lost. i dont know the exact details of what they sprayed but it was done with a tractor drawn vineyard mist blower around october time, the spray was purchased from an authorised chemical outlet and relevant PA qualifications were needed for its use. your circumstances may be different as this area was in close proximity to fruit being used for human consumption rather than a domestic situation. i will have a word with the farm manager and get some details later on in the week for ya
  21. http://www.mrsite.co.uk is where i built my site, £90 to self build and host for a year, gets cheaper on renewal
  22. how long do you guys reckon on life span of bars and sprockets? change every so many chains or only when showing signs of wear?
  23. at which point did you say "hmmm i think i need a bigger saw!"
  24. matt has obviously found out my dirty transit secret!! skyhuck, the hazards dont identify you enough to your "bruvvas" the unsafe load of scrap on the back and 7 of them piled across front seats and dash is another signature trademark! ....... i think we gone off topic here!!
