    Jokes???

  2. To be fair it was far from just Trump bashing. He didn't get much more than a mention in the hour long session. He, Bregman, was equally as scathing of the Left as he was of the Right really. He has no allegiance to the BBC as far as I know. The sensored claim was that Trump was “the most openly corrupt president in American history”. Which isn't that controversial actually. The man himself doesn't exactly make much attempt to conceal his dealings. Bregman seems like a very well informed and knowledgeable guy, I'm sure he didn't write those words without a good deal of research leading to credible citations and evidence. The point here is that the BBC, our public broadcaster, is running scared from the bullying tactics of another country's president. That means he has influence over them. To me, that isn't a good state of affairs. I thought more people might be alarmed by this, as there's been a lot of noise about The Death of Free Speech recently.
  3. Not bias as such, but an interesting twist on the theme. This is a bad sign of the times. It looks like the BBC have been bullied into self-censorship this time. The not so insidious death of free speech again. An interesting programme btw. The Reith Lectures are always good. I'd urge you to have a listen. Historian Rutger Bregman criticises BBC for removing Donald Trump line from Radio 4's Reith Lecture WWW.BBC.CO.UK Rutger Bregman says he is "genuinely dismayed" after a line about the US president was edited out.

  6. That's as maybe. But why isn't razor wire sharp? What's the point of it doesn't cut Intruders?
  7. Are there different types of Razor Wire or something? I.e. sharp and non sharp maybe? Any I've ever seen up close hasn't been in the least bit sharp. It's always mystified me, seems like a misnomer. Perhaps you're referring to the proper, sharp stuff above. I can see that they even sell razor wire in B&Q and Screwfix etc, presumably the blunt version.
  8. Wild Rose, (Dog or Sweet Briar I think, or let's just say Rosa sp.), growing through Blackthorn or anything else is also quite tough to get through. Nigh on impenetrable without tools I reckon. Less than 50:50 chance of OP returning is my wager.

  13. So this was a predictably disappointing outcome. It's fallen firmly into the realms of the law of diminishing returns unfortunately. Not much more than a load of hot air, (in more ways than one), now. The whole thing needs dismantling, rethinking and rebuilding. Obvious places to start would be to exclude the fossil fuel interests/lobbying and completely change the ridiculous logistics of it all. Or just scrap it altogether. Any ideas anyone, what do we do? Here's two different sets of five takeaways. COP30: Five key takeaways from a deeply divisive climate summit WWW.BBC.CO.UK What did we learn from a climate summit that ended in a deal with no new mention of fossil fuels? Cop30: five reasons the UN climate conference failed to deliver on its ‘people’s summit’ promise THECONVERSATION.COM Deals were agreed but with crucial elements missing.
  14. You beat me to it, I was about to stick this up. A true ambassador for Reggae and Jamaica.
  15. Alongside self service checkouts at the top end of the annoyance and frustration scale for me are app based car parks. I believe I may have mentioned both of these before ........... PROGRESS?!

  17. An interesting liaison. An unholy union if you will. A Field Maple and I think a Hornbeam in intimate embrace.
  18. I thought we were talking about a woodland setting. Specifically, a boundary within a woodland, subdividing it into smaller plots. But I may well have got that bit wrong.
  19. They need full sun or at least half. They'd struggle in a woodland setting due to excessive shading I think.
  20. I don't see why not. You can do it with fruit tree maiden whips to form Cordons.
  21. Amazing. Like giant Hawthorn cuttings.
  22. Pyracantha has got to be the ultimate in intruder repellant hedging. It's significantly more hostile than Hawthorn even. Probably grows more quickly as well.
