  1. Not pottering as this was very much planned, but my turn for some clockwork. A children's, (or maybe Dad's more likely), clock kit. It's a triumph of plywood engineering, all laser cut. Amazingly intricate. I guess it's Birch ply. It's even got an adjustable pendulum, made up from lots of little constituent parts. It's challenging with a mega impatient 5 year old but we're making good steady progress.
  2. Yes! Wordle 1,230 3/6 ⬜⬜🟨🟨⬜ ⬜🟨🟩⬜🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Speed Wordle again too, been a while since I've done one of them.
  3. They're having a rough time of it in Spain. Cars strewn around like Dinky Toys Spain floods: Nation mourns as death toll soars past 150 WWW.BBC.CO.UK At least 158 people have died in Spain's worst flooding disaster in decades as rescuers race to find victims.
  4. Dunno, he didn't mention that. I guess he'd of said that'd be a good exception too.
  5. Wordle 1,229 X/6 🟨⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟨🟨⬜⬜ ⬜⬜🟨🟨⬜ ⬜🟩🟨🟩🟨 🟨🟩⬜🟩🟨 🟨🟩🟩🟩⬜ Double letter ......
  6. That, plus never borrow money, except for a mortgage.
  7. To WD, or not to WD, that is the question.
  8. I wasn't paying much attention to the old budget earlier but I did catch a couple of points that sounded sensible. Something about trying to claw back some of the millions of pounds of our money stolen by the Boris cronies during the "covid farce cash bonanza". (That was more taking advantage of PPE procument and Track and Testing though, rather than pharmaceuticals). Also, an increase on private jet tax.
  9. I'll stick my neck out and say that the government shouldn't be handing out anti-fat drugs at all, except for severe medical cases. I don't imagine they're cheap, certainly not on the scale proposed. Much better to hand out free education courses on cookery and nutrition. (maybe a condition of benefit receipt?), for those afflicted. Paid for by taxing the hell out of ultra processed food type stuff. Don't suppose it'll happen though, most politicians are far too removed from reality.
  10. I think it's not so much the metals that are the problem, it's more the plastics and composite materials that are difficult/impossible to recycle. Same is the case with wind turbines blades.
  11. Wordle 1,228 3/6 ⬜🟩⬜🟩⬜ 🟨🟩⬜🟩🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  12. Well, that's an interesting little insight into the world of Bonsai. Who knew that they were so mollycoddled? Trips out to get Restyled and trips out to get Groomed! Whatever next. I remember seeing that guy on Gardener's World a few weeks back.

    Jokes???

Someone's been to a Japanese vending machine.
  14. Yes, and yes sadly. It'd be a good idea to bring the supposed 1 million empty homes back into use as well. This lot;- Action on Empty Homes WWW.ACTIONONEMPTYHOMES.ORG A much better idea, for a few reasons, than keep throwing up crappy, useless new builds on precious green land. Can't see that happening either though, on account of there being less profit in it.
  15. It's no good for most people. Very good for the developers profits though.
  16. I know, the ham gave it away. Assuming you're not German! Makes me think I ought to cook another ham, not done one in a while. It does well in cider, with a handful of chillies, cloves and star anise.
  17. So Musk is now openly trying to prove that money can indeed buy you everything. What a good ole fcked up democracy they have over there. https://www.reuters.com/legal/philadelphia-da-sues-elon-musk-pac-stop-1-million-lottery-voters-cnbc-reports-2024-10-28/
  18. Not your strong point is it, answering any questions. The thing is Dave, the cat is out of the bag now. Its incumbent on you to justify how you get mugged off by Conspiracy Theories, or probably worse, why you've been posting BS that you know to be untrue. You'll never lose the reputation at this rate.
  19. That certainly looks like a good hearty breakfast.
  20. Wordle 1,227 6/6 🟨⬜🟨⬜⬜ 🟨⬜⬜🟨⬜ ⬜⬜🟨⬜🟨 🟩🟩⬜🟩🟩 🟩🟩⬜🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 How rude.
