  1. That's a heartwarming story. Another medical triumph.
  2. Never before has a porn star appeared so honourable. Everything is relative.
  3. Wordle 1,055 5/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟩⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟩⬜⬜🟩 ⬜🟩🟩⬜🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 My fives are catching up with my tours recently.
  4. Interesting idea. I'd foresee it being a bit arduous though with the ember and leaf blower approach. I think I'd drill out as large a hole as possible through the centre, and then enlarge it with fire. Similar to those crappy log candles. Set it smouldering then douse it out when it gets to the desired size.
  5. That was horrible. Took me about 10 minutes longer than normal. Wordle 1,054 5/6 ⬜🟨⬜🟨🟨 🟨⬜🟨🟨⬜ ⬜🟨🟨🟨⬜ ⬜⬜🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Not really my kind of word either.
  6. Do you have any photos that you could share? Bit hard to try to diagnose the problem without being able to see the issue. Is there any obvious damage to that one bough, physical or physiological? Maybe Canker or some other infection.
  7. Nothing gets past some people does it?! So, to address this, the burning question of the day; they're neither work boots nor going out shoes. They're a pair of clogs I wear for kicking around in the workshop and garden sometimes. They're fairly new so probably were fresh out of the box in that first picture. I'm not one of these weird blokes that has to have shiny shoes! Second picture was in the kitchen @Doug TaitD. (Probably with slippers on in case you were wondering!)
  8. Quite a lot of supermarket fruit and veg is disappointing compared to what you can grow in the garden. It's grown more for their convenience, (shipping, storing, consistency of size/shape etc.) Consumer taste is not that high a priority. Even stuff from a proper old fashioned green grocer is way better normally. These were Bramleys. Apparently. The were real Bramleys, from the greengrocer.
  9. Cheers. The lower bee house is a section of hollow Laburnum stem that I've got lying around. I was hoping to do something more artistic with it but so far function has prevailed over form.
  10. Oh. I assumed that the fish ate the frog spawn and small tadpoles. We've tried introducing both a few times now, but to no avail. Are French goldfish vegetarian or something?
  11. Sad times indeed, wrt to the dearth of wildlife everywhere. It saddens me as well that not that many people seem to care. Not sure if most people just don't know, or don't even believe that the world as we know it is collapsing around us. I'd love to have frogs but she has always wanted gold fish, so we've got them instead. It's a case of either or in a small pond. I'm just waiting for them to die off now, we started with 5 and now down to only 2 so getting there! Also, thousands of pond snails. The Mason Bees are out in force here this week. I think the warmth and nice weather have brought them out. They're always more active when it's sunny. It turns out that they're difficult subjects to photograph, it took me scores of goes just to get this unsatisfactory one. Interestingly, I also spotted some tiny parasitic wasps that prey on the bees I think. Not so good.
  12. The same. Mainly CDs with a bit of YouTube and other online streamers occasionally.
  13. Wordle 1,053 4/6 ⬜🟩⬜⬜⬜ 🟨🟩⬜⬜🟨 ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  14. My Mrs has an Iranian friend. She likes to eat rhubarb as a raw stick, dipped in salt. The norm there apparently.
  15. Monkey's Fist Knot | How to tie a Monkey's Fist Knot using Step-by-Step Animations | Animated Knots by Grog WWW.ANIMATEDKNOTS.COM The Monkey's Fist is used both as a decorative knot and to weight the end of a heaving line. Very satisfying to make. Definitely doesn't undue by itself so more of a decorative, or permanent throwing knot. I read somewhere that it was used to make a Bolas.
  16. Mashed Swede with lashings of butter and black pepper is excellent. An integral part of Christmas dinner when my aunt cooks it.
  17. A large prostrate Walnut tree. Complete with resident Dandelion growing in a rot pocket.
  18. Bowline for everything and anything requiring a loop. Plus one of it's more secure variations occasionally. Anchor for tying to a krab or similar hard ring. There's a good chance of untying it, unlike a Buntline) Sheet or Zeppelin for joining ropes. Distel for climbing. Clove hitch for lots of stuff, but not by itself if high loading. (An interesting and easy variation on that is the Sack/Miller's knot or maybe Constrictor knot, forget the names. Much more secure, can be too secure, so better for something approaching permanent). Alpine Butterfly or bowline on a bight for midline stuff. Or an Artillery Loop if it's not critical, as it's much easier and quicker than a Butterfly. Trucker's hitch for a bit more pull on something. I always think I should be using a Figure of Eight knot for some things but never quite feel the need.
  19. Strugglesome Wordle 1,050 4/6 🟨🟨⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟩🟨🟨⬜ ⬜🟩🟩🟩⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
