  1. I don't constantly check my vt. It is tied correctly and the hitch cord is well suited to the rope and the length of the cord is suited to the thickness of the rope. Flicking my thumb across the top wrap to check it's sat correctly is a natural thing I do subconciously whilst climbing. I don't stop and physically check the knot. So are you a competent loler inspector? If not then how does your insurance company feel about the fact that YOU have checked YOUR own equipment and have deemed it ok to you. After all it is YOU who would have to put your hand in your pocket and buy new?
  2. I don't believe for one second that an old timer did that. Looks like a young and enthusiastic "I'll do it, I'll do it",fell. I can imagine the old timer standind back with a wry smile saying "well what's happened here then". Hahaha
  3. So you never check you krabs for wear and tear and make sur they still function properly? Do you not get a qualified and experienced person once a year to check your krabs don't stay open so you don't have to in the tree.
  4. I've not seen anyone with 4 cross hatchs on their forehead. Haha.
  5. V. T failure? Nope. Climbed error? Yes. The v.t is an advanced technique of climbing and should be treated as such. Wether you have been climbing for 30 years or 30 minutes it is such a different technique.
  6. Anything with a 15"bar. Stihl ms260 or husky 356. Sorted.
  7. I'd like to add that I don actually care about people judging me when they don't really know me unless however I am trying to get them to give me money and then it's all very "yes sir, no sir". You know what I mean?
  8. I'm a huge tattoo fan and have a fair few with plans to get many more. However, even through public perception is becoming more and more accepting towards tattoos I still choose to be able to hide my tattoos at any given moment that i feel they may still be deemed inappropriate. By this I mean being able to chuck some sleeves on and quote or job or be able to wear a suit a a wedding or christening without anyone knowing I have tattoos. They are for my enjoyment but I can also choose to show them off whenever I fell like on a beach or somewhere that noone will be judging me. I still feel in a way that hands and neck / face is best left to tattoo artists whom it is their job to show off tattoos
  9. Sealed bearing for longevity and smoothness. Only really noticable when used in different applications.
  10. That will have been the wind as that enourmous evergreen swept to the deck. Haha
  11. And keep your fags in it if you smoke haha

    Hello

Honey bros and buxtons are both brilliant suppliers but they are not the only two. Scout round on the Internet aswell for best deals. A fair few will offer bulk discounts if you are buying all kit at once. Climbing kit is ppe so should really be specificall for you. I.e brand new. As for coming straight out of college and setting up on your own, I advise you to not do it. Get in the real world and get some years behind you first.
  13. But for the record, I'm using 8mm ocean poly on 11mm Yale blaze and my other setup at the mo is lyros runner on tachyon. Both work awesome....... For me.
  14. Use the forums search engine mate. There are many other threads like this. All with useful information. Alot of people won't be bothered going over the same thing again and again. Cord / rope combos are all personal preference.
  15. Haha excellent answers as always. I was kidding about the tag line being anchored. Was having a chat about how much redtape and h&s there is in the world today and am now looking at everything through the eyes of risk management and laughing at how much you can go into it to stop all trips and slips etc. Really liked the double pulley technique though mate. Many times have we blocked down sections of similar sizes onto single lines and pulleys and only ever speculated over what the gear could handle. I'm a big fan of redirect rigging and getting more rope in the system, so it is nice to find a way of getting even higher swl's. Mucho gracious.
  16. Haha I see what you did there Mick. Cobblers, shoes. Haha I did chuckle.
  17. Gosh. You wake up on a bank holiday morning with a daft idea and everyone slaps you in the face and calls you a retard. Haha
  18. I wasn't talking about a radical new design, just chainsaw protective layers being added to a current design. Doesn't matter.
  19. why would they last any less amount of time? Do the scarpas etc not last very long compared to chainsaw boots? Was gonna order some 2moro.
  20. Well that's that idea boohoo'd then. Don't worry I've got more haha I was just looking at the scarpas and them red things that shrek wears and thought there must be some middle ground inbetween. I was more asking if anyone agreed in principle, not seriously if a Haix Frank Pro model was gonna be coming out next year. Haha
  21. Obviously I understand that there is a whole design, testing, marketing and manufacturing process that has to go on, but surely it could be a viable option?the more comfortable you are in a tree, the safer you are.
  22. Then just call me the micheal flately of the tree world. Stomping up a large pole with gaffs on, dragging a 441 around, chogging out 10ft sections, fair enough, strong boots are required. However for actual climbing and general tree maintenance in summer, there is nothing better than a pair of good climbing trainers.
  23. Or maybe I'm just cleverer than I look.haha I don't understand how it can be a problem?
  24. You see. Even huckelberry Dave wants a pair now. Haha
  25. No heavier or chunkier than normal boots. Basically I did a very rare pruning job the other day where only silk work was needed, it was really warm and such a nice tree to jump around in that I left the chainsaw pants and boots in the van. It was one of the best days wok I have had for ages. It got me thinking that there must be a crossover, the scarpas and similar are so light and supportive and frilly and good for footlocking, all they need is some protective material in the Tongue area.
