  1. unfinished, or .........................lazy.hahaha
  2. hahahahahahahahaha you dont know how close to the truth that is
  3. A sad story indeed. My sympathys go to all family and friends. This chap appears to have been a real "have-a-go charlie" and would more than likely have attempted to do anything for anyone. He was probably more than capable of doing most things aswell. Unfortunatley accidents do happen, especially when working at heights or with power machinery. just another reason why we go to great lengths to train for our chosen career paths and pay attention to current HSE guidelines. (they are there for us). If only there was more public awareness of the serious dangers of working with trees without the correct competency. maybe a tv commercial of the "hit me at 40", "hit me at 30" type of genre??????? with some graphic images might make people realise that tree work is a specialist operation (most of the time) and should be treated as such. We all know the dangers of gas and electricity which is why when we need work doing we look in the big yellow book for a registered sparky or gas fitter. Once again my condolences to the guys family. I know full well that if I hadnt followed in this path, I wouldn't know the risks, and i would probably gladly help someone by either footing the ladder or going up the tree. All down to ignorance and lack of legislation. When was the last time you saw rogue traders doing an item on non british standard pruning cuts that may make a tree dangerous in the future, or non insured, non qualified "arbs" trading as such. NEVER
  4. It could be percieved as being somewhat communistic, but we will have to put some spin on it, and pull wool over the eyes of the labourers. Make them feel like it is really just a "FUN" day out. Oh and I forgot to mention, you will all need to turn up in un-written vehicles and refer to me only as boss or gaffer. muhuhuhuh.
  5. We only care for your welfare as some of us can only imagine what a traumatic time it must have been for you. I can only assume what is going through your fragile mind right now, I bet the making of those sarnies is playing back on loop in your head. What a heatless foul beast
  6. would be funny to see the customers face when they come out and say "how many for tea", and theres 30 of us hahaha.
  7. Large estate manager appeals to me. You will then still be able to fell a few trees alongside the contractors. And you get to decide which pieces of kit the land owners "NEED" to buy next. Which may involve a trip to a generic forestry show , etc. So you can still keep in with the industry but on another more laid back level.
  8. well if you tell me the name of all the "top money climbers" that you know and I might be able to work it out and shame them for you hahaha Did he ask you or just started raiding your snap box???
  9. Just reading through some old posts etc, and it appears that I have missed out on sum fun climbs and get togethers. Would have been nice to put some faces to names. Are there any more in the pipeline, obviously when it gets a bit warmer? This got me thinking tho, something you lot have missed out on. I have been to qoute 2x 150+yr old beech take downs. We could have a meet up and fun "work" climb on these 2 trees and even make it a race to get them down and cleared up the fastest. Sort out 2 teams, I'll be the referee. No unorthodox techhniques or there can be time penalties etc. Then it'll be a reet fun day out and I can invoice the customer and get all the money and everyone else will just have the satifaction of a great day out. So.........whos up for it?
  10. not putting visor or ear defenders on whilst taking tops out cos ladies are watching.
  11. Whereabouts are you based??? PM me and we can might be able to sort something out, because spending 2 days just crown thinning one tree cant be very economical in the current climate of finances. Where you paying piece work or per day????
  12. use for long drag outs, lay it on floor, place brash across it, then choke it through the eye and pull tight, hey presto, easy draggin haha
  13. Nooooooooo thats real bad mate. I put a line on a phone cable to pull it clear once, and mustve moved it bout 8ft, then still caught it with the limb I was dropping, the cable was still there when I opened my eyes tho.haha(wet, miserable days)
