    which is left

in my experience, looking towards the house is how you would gauge left or right of a property. but could be confusing, so i use directions commonly found on a compass. so as to avoid the confusing and wrong tree chopping etc etc haha
  2. Tree toppers R us. thats the name of my company haha. and there is dodgy work down everyones way when them utility line boys warm their saws up.
  3. dont know what "modest" means but I wouldnt describe myself as such. haha:001_cool:
  4. I did think it maybe a fairly common verse but wanted to share it with those that hadnt heard it. and the stroy behind the version I have been given on the plank of Lime is similar to the scenn in Pulp Fiction about Butch's dads watch only it never travelled internally in a human. hahahaha thats all Im saying.
  5. I think wehter the moderators are visible or not, this site runs very smoothly and I am thoroughly enjoying posting and reading this forum. Many thanks to all involved. although if by SPAMMERS you mean people who post completley random, useless comments, then I should maybe have a fortnight ban to calm down a bit. hahaha
  6. Arb talk or axmen??? lets start a poll. I'll miss axmen to stay on arb talk to set it up. haha
  7. a 64 year old friend of mine and colleague gave me a 12" plank of lime with the following poem inscribed on it. The piece of wood has such a sentimental value to it that I am gonna treasure it and hopefully pass it on a young arb head when I'm grey and old. I promised I wouldnt broadcast the full story of how my friend came to own this plank as it is personal to his heart, but I was given permission to post the Poem. Here goes: Logs to Burn Beechwood fires burn bright and clear, If the logs are kept a year, Store your beech for christmastide with new-cut holly laid beside. Chestnuts only good, they say If for years tis stored away; Birch and Fir wood burn too fast Blaze too bright and do not last Flames from Larch will shoot up high Dangerously the sparks will fly. "But Ashwood green and Ashwood brown are fit for a queen with a golden crown" Oaken logs, if dry and old Keep away the winters cold Poplar gives a bitter smoke Fills your eyes and makes you choke Elm-wood burns like churchyard mould E'en the very flames are cold. Hawthorn bakes the sweetest bread - So it is in Ireland said: Applewood will scent the room Pear-wood smells like flowers in bloom "But Ashwood wet and Ashwood dry a King may warm his slippers by."
  8. if you send me acheque for £280 I can make you a moderater. and you can moderate everything.
  9. £60 per bulk bag average round here. I live in a relatively small village with NO gas supply.all oil or coal/open fires. So I have an ever so slight monopoly.
  10. and I thought that all you southerners were loaded. Pay has got to relate to the job. always. you can get about £8.00 per hour as a librarian.
  11. 125??? if you did 8 hours and travelled so say maybe 10 hours of your time, thats £12.50 per hour. You could cut grass and weed flower beds for that. Not as fun I know but half as exhausting and you dont need nearly as much kit or insurance etc etc.
  12. I dont get out of bed for less than 150 and I wouldnt expect anyone else to do so for me, unless they were staying on terra firma all day.
  13. shouldn't that have been TXT TLK
  14. im not calling anyone a slut... just the whole stihletto thing. (see what I did there ....stihl....etto) Nevermind.
  15. I cant believe nearly six minutes of my life reading this thread will never be given back to me.they are gone, wasted, Thanks guys. hahaha 5 pages on dog excrement and sluts footwear.
  16. like this only with hedge trimmers. get it bought.
  17. I bought a stihl fr85t(or summat like) back pack combi system, got hedge trimmer attachment and strimmer/brushcutter all for £585 from stihl dealer.brand new but old style stock (2006 model). then i bought the carbon fibre extension pole (£80) so i can do conifers like that without going up the steps. I must say, apart from if you need to get tight down inbetween a shed or something it makes little work of most hedges. and with the engine mounted on the back pack the vibration is minimal. also I use it to cut down scrubland and strim grass. My best buy this year. and it doesnt look half as queer as that contraption.
  18. did you work for me?? hahaha One piece of advise.......mmmmm.......dont look down hahaha. I dont know what to say, i guess just listen and absorb everything more experienced people have to say. If you are 100% commited and you can find someone with bucket loads of experience and are willing to teach you young jedi, then your on to a winner.
  19. depending on regularity. £150 a day for average pruning, felling etc, £250-300 for large dismantling. depending on job, time taken, etc etc. can work out rate for week/fortnight etc. pretty flexible really.

    bad news

Its all been said for me, but.. sympathys to all those around him. No point in speculating as to why or what exactly happened, but certainly worth taking the time to think and reflect. So many near misses we all laugh off, but one day......... such a sad shame.
  21. I always advise newcomers to put helmet visor and earmuffs on from the moment they get out of the transit for at least 4 months, not for this exact reason but for lots of others similar. YOU DONUT. hahaha. I bet when you got home your folks/wife/girlfriend thought you had been in a right ding dong down the pub. haha
