  5. conifer topping / trimming can get like an episode of Relocation, Relocation sometimes haha. But for someone to just lye?? that must really make the blood boil.
  6. check your insurance for equipment aswell, as some state the builiding must be 90% brick.???

  8. Buy one NOW. And never climb again without it.haha
  9. "We put the talk, in Arbtalk"
  10. erm........... recreational climb, not free labour. hahaha, this isnt a communist state. all silkys to be left at home.
  11. (video 1 ) Basically, if the objective was to knock over that tree and chop it up for firewood, then SUCCESS. If the objective was fell that tree using current standards of health and safety under scrutiny of an external examiner, then im afraid; FAILED. BIG TIME. Simple.
  12. that was kinda the point I was trying to make. Im fortunate to have paid all my insurance (including vehicle) up front, so apart from fuel and oil, I have very small overheads. It's not always how big the firm is, its how big the reputation is.
  13. Alot? but NOT ALL. When was the last recession?? was I even alive??
  14. Sorry, that should have been "I" am lucky, most of "MY" work. haha sometimes with large country estates the trees are all they have. Especially as they are not cutting grass just yet.
  15. its supercharged with turbo. I believe.
  16. or Royal Bank of Scotland, for our younger members or politically correct users.
  17. Met an old school mate today (through a generic social networking site [facebook]) and when I was talking bout what I did for a living, he remarked something about how I must have a Land Rover Defender. "cos all tree fellers do". I didnt know what he was talking about, then came home and found 15 pages of you guys playing right into the stereotype. I feel I must now do the same. Anyone wanna swap a 52plate Mercedes SL32 AMG supercharged w/turbo?????
  18. ahhhh that explains that then. I must say I was appauled when I clicked that link.
  19. I bet he has all his fingers and isnt completley deaf aswell. What was that amazing quote "You need a piece of paper to fell a tree nowadays" Hahaha. Your grandfather looks and acts exactly like my wifes grandad, only he is starting to slow a bit now and isnt alowed "in the field" so much anymore.
  20. maybe because their website is rubbish, haha, only joking. Something must have gone wrong higher up somewhere because I know loadsa people with wolf tools. So there must have been some bad management along the lines.
  21. Recession............??? MEH!!!! In a way we are lucky within this industry, as a vast percentage of our work is necessity, NOT luxury. Clients have obligations to maintain the trees that they own. Not just for trees sakes but for health and safety aspects (overhanging pathways etc). There will always be tree work out there, it just depends on who gets the contract. It will go on reputation, it will go on business marketing skills, it will go on who knows who, it will go on who has the specialist kit, it will go on who is willing to work for the cheapest, it will go on who gives the best impression of themselves when quoting or tendering for work. Basically, I'm gonna screwed hahahhahahahaha. Seriously though, I'm staying positive because at the end of the day, I will win.
  22. Natwest. 24 hr UK only call centres. Phone line to your local branch, not somewhere in India (Barclays / Lloyds). Straightforward no-nonsense, easy access on-line. Free for 18 months. Oh and their open on saturdays now aswell. And I do believe owned by RBS anyway???
