  11. on this sort of subject; I know of at least 2 companies near me who advertise / have sign written on vehicle the fact that they are "Tree Specialists". Now, in my mind I believed that to be a specialist in a subject meant that any advice you give could be held up in court and you should be prepared to be called as an expert witness, and are then fully liable for any advice you give. these 2 generic companies I know for a fact that all staff are only basic NPTC and IPAF certified. Does this make them calling themselves "tree specialists" a little bit risky?? This is pure curiosity from an article I read about a completley different industry. Whereby a company was fined for false advertising etc for simply using the word "specialist" when they were merely competent in what they did.
  12. your responses get better and better.
  13. tried that, and all I seem to get is; "you've been at work all day". "why do you need to sit for 2 hours every evening discussing work" so I have to explain that its cheaper than going down the pub to discuss it haha

  19. well yeah!!! but I aint bought anything yet though have I hahaha:001_tongue:
  20. Heres my 2 penneth worth. I have a keen passion for all things tree related, from climbing up them, to furniture made from them etc etc. I got this passion that builds more each day from a job cutting/killing them. This was described to me once as being somewhat "ironic". Now, working with trees earns me money, which keeps my family well fed and happy. In order to keep the money coming in, I have to do a good job, which involves being proffesional, and knowing what I'm talking about. The people who i work for dont always have this passion. Im happy knowing that they are aware of "best practice". If they choose not to go to listen then I would have to think long and hard before I walked away from a job, I.e location? 200 yards away form Kew Gardens and I wouldnt have dreamed of doing that to a Euca or In the middle of a council estate I probably would have. I would have asked to prune / reduce to my spec first and if not happy would do whatever they wanted. I would not ever go behind their back and inform a t/o like that. anyway, what t/o would bang an emergency tpo on a euca like that???? NONE. haha. How bout this dilemma, you "grass" on a client for trying to get you to remove a mature tree, then the t/o goes down and no action is taken and no tpo given. the customer is bemused but doesnt know it was you who "grassed" them , so asks again if you would fell it?? Do you?? Could you?? I mean morally NO.haha
  21. funniest thing is, is that you actually "are" networking. In fact, its the best bit of networking I have ever seen. e.g thread bout petzl swivels, "we sell them" hahahaha:001_tongue: If you befriended everyone on this site, then you could essentially monopolise the arb supply industry. Haha I see your game:001_tongue: Seriously though it's an amazing what arbtalk can do, because now when I think about a bit of gear I want, your site is the first to get "clicked". be right back, the missus is barking something.
  22. I bet it wasnt even a job, they was just having a laugh. Saw the tree at the edge of a random field and thought, lets try a zipline haha Owner probably hasnt noticed the tree has gone:001_tongue:
