  1. Hi - I’ve possibly got 300 tonnes of larch to sell, being felled because of phytophthora. It is in Cheshire with decent access - it will be presented roadside to the buyer’s spec. I’ve had a couple of offers for biomass - is that ultimately the best market for it? Cheers, Dan
  2. I’m not 100% sure but a load of stuff came loose/undone (as though it hadn’t been tightened up in the factory or during PDI), I’ve got a feeling the flywheel or a cover moved so the blades were fouling, and the hydraulic pump drive failed (all at different times in the first couple of weeks). All significant issues, with no support from the supplier until they said ‘bring it back to us and we will look at it in our workshop’. Terrible service - if it had been mine and I’d had to take it back to them I’d have made the journey once and returned with my money. £30k for a 6 inch chipper with no support unless you are local to the supplier - no thank you very much!!!
  3. Doesn’t your mix have a dye in it? Operator error for not checking at fill-up IMO.
  4. A mate recently had a new road-tow Schliesing and it was a bag of shit from day 1, and there is absolutely no dealer backup. And it was £30k I believe!!! He’s always had them, swears by them, and is the most meticulous person with his kit that I know. Whether his new machine was a one-off lemon or not I don’t know - what I do know is that the dealers (who are the importers I think) did nothing to help him out and he eventually lost two days dragging it the length of the country back to them and subsequently going back to collect it, with no assistance/goodwill from them at all. I would proceed with extreme caution...
  5. Bullshit YouTube hits generator poster IMO - loads of new posts all pointing to his channel. Essentially a spammer I’d say.
  6. Didn’t you just have a new Valtra mate?
  7. That’s also to be out of the danger zone if the tractor turns over whilst winching (not a joke). I bought a Tajfun winch with radio control and powered outfeed (both options I would seriously recommend if you can stretch to them) and it is fantastic - very well made piece of kit.
  8. I have broken many things on many different chippers (of various brands), and the over-the-phone technical support from Greenmech has pulled me out of the mire on numerous occasions. I’ve never phoned them with a GM issue that either Jason or his legendary now-retired colleague Mac couldn’t diagnose and talk me through a fix in minutes. (And I’ve never bought a new machine from them, I’ve only ever bought second hand, so they haven’t in any way been obliged to offer the support they do). It makes me laugh/cringe when I see other manufacturers fob customers off straight to their dealers when technical support is sought - the backup from GM is second-to-none and freely given, and has saved me untold inconvenience and downtime. They are a brilliant company employing brilliant people!
  9. How did it taste? Same as Irn Bru I’d bet?!!!
  10. It’s a bit of a twat to get the spring hooked onto the mount tbh - you definitely shouldn’t be able to lift the top roller assembly once sprung (with two arms, never mind one!).
  11. Can you add a geographical location to your business name?
  12. I’m hoping that it leads to the pirate treasure tbh!
  13. It’s not around our neck of the woods, and I’m certain it doesn’t relate to dogs in any way. But I did wonder if there might be a less-than-honest reason for the markings.
  14. As per the title - anyone know what these mean?
  15. If you cut your anchor out of the tree you are in a world of trouble, irrelevant of what else you are tied to. Paddy - whilst you seem keen to try and prove that it would be a much better outcome if you had another anchor-point you are entirely missing the point that Skyhuck made... If you have two anchor points the chance of you accidentally cutting one of them off whilst tied to it has doubled!
  16. Just check your feed hopper height/safety bar legal requirements if mounted on that - you may need a different safety bar set-up if it raises/lowers the feed table.
  17. I bet the fella slipping around trying to push that Gator out was made up being filmed and instructed instead of helped!...
  18. I think that your correspondence (above) relates to TPOs, not conservation areas. To the OP - I’d be amazed if the LA created a TPO without corresponding with you if you have notified them of the work you intend to carry out, irrespective of timescale (within reason). However, if it was several months after notification that you got around to undertaking the works a quick call to the TO to confirm that nothing had changed might not be a bad idea...
  19. If you own more than £15k of kit you are underinsured, and in the event of a claim you will only be paid out an equivalent proportion of the value of the claim. (ie you have £15k of cover but £30k of kit - if you have £2k of stuff stolen the insurers will only give you £1k payout).
  20. That’s a mega looking tractor - I know nothing about Valtras though. What is it?
  21. Nooooooooo!!! What was delivered on that trailer then?!
  22. The new ridgeback pup has been here a week now, and seems to be settling in very well. I’m not convinced how good he’s going to be at hunting lions though...
