    It has 2 spliced eyes instead of being a loop. I don't know what material you are using, but Armor Prus has a very high melting point so it means it lasts longer as long as you don't bomb it out of the tree. As Matty says, When its tied, The vt break to allow the rope to move through it and when weight is put in the system, it grips.

    Short for Valdotain Tresse mate. Knot tied with an eye to eye split tail and a micro pulley. Self tends when there is enough weight below the knot.

    Good for if you need to take in slack one handed. Like someone else said, Pick up a copy of the Tree Climber's Companion or search though some of the old threads here and have a look at some of the other systems that are out there. Best of luck mate.

    £15 for micro pulley. Couple of quid for hitch cord and you already have the crab to attach it.
