  1. I just can't stand the salespeople at Yell. All that NLP talk makes me sick, they talk to you like your stupid and word things to make you come up with the response that they want so that thye can make you think THEY are doing you a good turn. "Salesman sounded dissapointed" That was fake dissapointment, he's a salesman that has failed to get a job anywhere other than Yell. !!
  2. And access and probably a few other variables.
  3. Nope.
  4. Surely that is how forestry works? The landowner gets paid a bit for the wood and the contractor sells the timber, thats normal.
  5. If you send a letter it must contain the word "complaint" then they have to respond. Not usign that word will mean the letter gets filed!
  6. The insurance will only cover removing the tree from the garage, not removing it from site. I've had this happen before, the insurers offer part of the invoice and the homeowner refuces to pay the rest cos they accepted the quote on the basis that the insurance would cover it. You must word the invoice in favour of the actual work not the transport costs.
  7. MAke sure you invoice it as 99% to clear the obstruction and 1% to remove the debris cos they won't pay for the removal from site of the debris!!!! As for what "John" said- I'm speechless, but I think a call to your insurance company to let them know what is going wouldn't hurt?? And John should really get sacked for promoting poeple doing dangerous activities without insurance!!!!!! Does all go to show though that insurance is a joke, hence my usual rants!!
  8. Cheapest option was to do CS30,31,32+34 get PPE and a trailer Thats a lot of time and money investment to re coup!!
  9. I think its important to seperate pollarding a beech tree (bad) from pollarding a knackered topped beech tree to give it half a chance (good).
  10. I use tewkesbury saw company. Cheapest I've found, they charge £3 per 4 inch blade. Of course there would be postage costs.
  11. You read my mind or vice versa!!
  12. Looks liek a corenet pruned tree!! If its TPO then apply to fell it and if they say no then there is your answer, if yes then you still have a decision to make but I would fell it if the owners are ok with that, or completely leave it to its own devices, i.e. to fall apart as it pleases. Its not your problem that it got ruined years ago. Maybe leave a stem for habitat and it may even grow off that for another 20 years!
  13. I was thinking that. Ratchet straps all over the place and rig it using both sides of the crown at once, could have climbed it then no worries. Of course if the crane can get near it then crane it is, but many like that are not accessable for cranes so we just strap them up and monitor it as we go.
  14. Are you the guys right next to the motorway??
  15. Count to ten and then get yourself another Pint!

    power shutdown

Sorry, I should have said its southern/eastern gloucestershire not "south glos" which is an actual seprate area. But even knowing the distribution (eon, I think) doesn't really help, there website is no good at all for this issue.

    power shutdown

Yep will do. I remember it beign a pain in the past. You need the MOBILE phone number of someone useful or else you get no where IMO.

    power shutdown

Cheers, I will message the oracle. Thanks.
  19. Does anyone have a contact number to arrange power shut down or trimming back from wires to enable us to remove a tree?? In the south gloucestershire area. I don't knwo where to look as its been a while and none of my contact numbers seem to work anymore!!!!!!! Thanks
  20. VT, but have just switch back to a helical hitch for old times sake!!
  21. Thats a good one! Inform them that they still own all the debris!! MArtyn-- You should state the date(or number) of the quote. i.e. "I have completed all the work that is written on quote dated(numbered) XYZ. That way it is specific which quote you are refering too. I trust you have copies of the quote and that it was sent to them in an un-alterable format?
  22. Are they sayign that the other trees are in the original quote? If so where are they getting that idea from? Do they want a quote for the other trees, so that when thye are done they will pay the whole bill? I like the waste dumping idea the best, I have always thought that that would be what i would do if in the same situation.

    Chogging down

Brash mat is ok, but when your choggin you want the chippign to be done and finished with. Often we make a "corral" out of logs and drop the discs into that. Keep them cleared as you drop and no worries!
  24. Ok. £40.00.?
  25. Where abouts are you?? Postage or collection? I'm in gloucestershire/cheltenham.
