  1. Also, can you show a picture of it in your hand, it looks huge? I'm sure you've not heard that before!!!!!
  2. What accessory did you get?? You don't need software really. Its on or off, as long as you can retrieve the files. Windows movie maker is all you need for editing. Can you give it a quick go? I'm keen to see the width of view its got.
  3. I know I am very lucky. I many regular clients who don't need a quote!!
  4. Did you get the discount ??
  5. ANd if the tree falls on your car then that's car insurance not home insurance, or at least thats what one will say and vice versa.
  6. Sure, I'm only giving my experience. A friend of mine has a big ad (same area as me) and gets loads of calls and that is a large part of his business. Maybe he is better at dealign with the kind of people that i don't get on with??? Also if you are gettign a large amount of the work form the YP then you can maybe do it cheaper so you get a high % of your quotes accepted and that means more jobs to fit together to make up a good day rate. It might be that I'm just too lazy to look at 10 jobs to get 3 of them and then do all 3 in a day to make any money.
  7. I found that advertising, especially YP, reaches the type of clients that don't own any significant trees and/or don't have any appreciation for trees and/or don't have any money!!!
  8. As long as there is something in the saw it won't matter! Its only chain oil!! If your not bothered about fuel mixes then definatly don't worry about oil.
  9. I can push mine in up the ramps but its only 750kgs.
  10. Sure. Guess new businesses have to start somewhere. Problem is that YP is full of new businesses that charge too little in order to get work. So you pay a fee in order to get work by being the cheapest. Give it a go for a while though and eventually recomendations will take over.
  11. I just can't stand the salespeople at Yell. All that NLP talk makes me sick, they talk to you like your stupid and word things to make you come up with the response that they want so that thye can make you think THEY are doing you a good turn. "Salesman sounded dissapointed" That was fake dissapointment, he's a salesman that has failed to get a job anywhere other than Yell. !!
  12. And access and probably a few other variables.
  13. Surely that is how forestry works? The landowner gets paid a bit for the wood and the contractor sells the timber, thats normal.
  14. If you send a letter it must contain the word "complaint" then they have to respond. Not usign that word will mean the letter gets filed!
  15. The insurance will only cover removing the tree from the garage, not removing it from site. I've had this happen before, the insurers offer part of the invoice and the homeowner refuces to pay the rest cos they accepted the quote on the basis that the insurance would cover it. You must word the invoice in favour of the actual work not the transport costs.
  16. MAke sure you invoice it as 99% to clear the obstruction and 1% to remove the debris cos they won't pay for the removal from site of the debris!!!! As for what "John" said- I'm speechless, but I think a call to your insurance company to let them know what is going wouldn't hurt?? And John should really get sacked for promoting poeple doing dangerous activities without insurance!!!!!! Does all go to show though that insurance is a joke, hence my usual rants!!
  17. Cheapest option was to do CS30,31,32+34 get PPE and a trailer Thats a lot of time and money investment to re coup!!
  18. I think its important to seperate pollarding a beech tree (bad) from pollarding a knackered topped beech tree to give it half a chance (good).
  19. I use tewkesbury saw company. Cheapest I've found, they charge £3 per 4 inch blade. Of course there would be postage costs.
  20. You read my mind or vice versa!!
  21. Looks liek a corenet pruned tree!! If its TPO then apply to fell it and if they say no then there is your answer, if yes then you still have a decision to make but I would fell it if the owners are ok with that, or completely leave it to its own devices, i.e. to fall apart as it pleases. Its not your problem that it got ruined years ago. Maybe leave a stem for habitat and it may even grow off that for another 20 years!
  22. I was thinking that. Ratchet straps all over the place and rig it using both sides of the crown at once, could have climbed it then no worries. Of course if the crane can get near it then crane it is, but many like that are not accessable for cranes so we just strap them up and monitor it as we go.
  23. Are you the guys right next to the motorway??
