  1. That all sounds right, confusion again with the use of terms, bona fide subcontractors and subbie climbers being such totally different things. We should all stop refering to self employed climbers as subbies when they are not. As long as the bona fide subcontractors have proper insurance then original contractor shoudl be ok, but if not then the responsibilty would fall back on you.
  2. Are you subcontracting work to tree companies?? Or getting guys in to do work for you? If the former then why would you bother worrying about NI and tax? The employer/boss of the subcontracted in company would be paying his employees.
  3. If you have your own insurance then you should check what it says about cubcontracting work out. It might say you can't do it at all on your policy?
  4. Does it cahnge the other way if the moisture content is over 100% or am I missing something?
  5. mine was weight x (100-original content/ 100-final content)
  6. Thats close enough for me! I was thinking my calc wouldn't work in this situaition too! And my head hurt even more!
  7. I though that, maybe they can only change one thing at a time and saw the name correction first and just did that. I wonder how many times I can send it back and change one letter at a time until it spelled some thing rude? A bit like the countdown clip on youtube!
  8. 70 in an LDV!! The only way I could get caught woudl be in a 30 but it would have to be 2miles long so I could pick up speed!
  9. 8kgs started off being 68% wood and ended up being 89% wood.
  10. its 8kgs x 68 divided by 89 = 6.11kgs. thank you.
  11. Still not quit but nearly. the answer is 6.11 kgs. You are correct except you dont add 11% of 5.44, instead you work it so that 5.44 is 89%, its that difference that was confusing us, you got the first bit right. 68% of 8kgs is 5.44 and if 5.44 is 89% of the finish then it weighs 6.11kgs
  12. YOu keep beatign me to it dean! Yes your correct. Paper rusrtler, just put logs in the net and don't worry about % stuff, you made my brain acknwoledge its own extistance and thats bad!!
  13. Me too. I can see what I mean but I can't write it! Its like back workign VAT, you don't use 15% you need another mumber. If I weigh 100 kgs and I'm 20% fat. My fat weighs 20kgs. if my fat content goes down to 10% thats a 10% reduction in fat content but not necessarily 10kgs loss in total weight, its not that simple. so it doesn't mean I know weigh 90kgs, because 10kgs (my remaining fat) is NOT 10% (my new fat content) of 90kgs!!!!
  14. NO the 5.25 is the new weight, the reuction in weight was the amount you said. But it was still wrong.
  15. I'm wrong but the above is still not right. weight lost by drying is not 21%, then 21% of the original etc etc, because that assumes the 21% lost was lost from the whole mass of wood, when in fact it was only lost from the moisture content part of it. So it 21% lost from the 32% that was moisture??
  16. Only8 Kgs to start with!! Thats not right htough, its only the moisture that has changed in weight not the wood. So with the calc above the 2.75kg is the reduction in weight then taken away from the original to leave 5.25kgs Oh you edited already! Correct 8000g.
  17. I sent off the V5 of my new truck a week ago to change the body type to "tipper" and I corrected a typo in my comapany name spelling while I was at it. But it came back with the typo corrected and the body type remained as "drop side". I had a quick look on tinternet and it looks as though I may have to provide proof of these changes? Anyone know much about this? I'm not sure I can be bothered TBH.
  18. Cheers. The radar still picks up the fact the we are not breaking any speedlimits! Thats is unavoidable, I dream of gettign caught speeding in an LDV, I have so much space on my license its embarrassing!
  19. Yep, pretty much done, thanks. And its workign well. The back corners flap a bit but not enought to worryh about, probably more worrying to whoever is following! The sides don't seem to "drum" at all, but maybe we can't hear them? Have been working hard and its earning its keep so far. It is still waiting for some under body tool storage and sign writing. Cash flow still not flowing!
  20. As a first saw I would go for 300mm zubat, see how you get on and take it from there.
  21. The landscaping project would be the best, but its not as dangerous as the word "cyanide" suggests. Maybe don't put it near livestock or fruit and veg just to be sure, other than that don't worry about it.
  22. Glow in the dark clothes pegs are always a good choice
  23. Shouldn't it be called "Peacing with rain" island?
