  4. I've got an old msr wisperlite, 20 years old I think but its had a new pump. It is usually in the car or truck. I just recently bought a one litre pan with heat diffuser. I boiled a litre in 3 minutes which matches the jet boil.
  5. I just bought each of us at work one of these and they are good for morning brew to take with you.

    Which 4X4?????

Here's one of my old pic ups taken in '97-98 ish? In the back ground is my housemates audio quattro. Its the original one from the castrol gtx adverts in the eighties. It was a pile of crap (mostly cos it had been ragged on track days all its life) and he never took me up on the challenge of driving to pub off road! (Which could be done, handy on the way home!)
  9. I am a boss and I am fussed enough to make rescue practice the forefront of our safety initiative. Without that, the rest is pointless. If anyone wants to spend £290.00 on a shiny box then good for them. Learn how to rescue each other first though!!

    Which 4X4?????

Thats what I mean about the subaru rep. being ruined by the imprezza. I think they make great estate cars for country folk with dogs, but the imprezza is for a whole different person and never the twain etc etc..... I wouldn't own an imprezza, but the standard 2L sport estate version is alright at a push I guess. Sorry but the gold alloys are awful!

    Which 4X4?????

Years ago I bought an old shape (L series) subaru estate with a Turbo on it, for 500 quid. I already had one without a turbo but couldn't resist it. It was about an E reg I think so mid eighties. Bloody lethal! 60 in about 6 seconds. It had height adjustable suspension that was giving up the gost so we played around a bit with it, beatign boy racers off traffic lights in a dirty estate car was fun, it had no turbo badge or anything gay like that on it. Sold it for nearly a grand after 4 months fun and kept the standard one. I'm on Subaru number 7 now but did often have two at once, usually a pick up and an estate. Never had an imprezza and IMO they give the subaru image a bad rep. and also the sale of them prohibited further imports of the pick up which was a shame!

    Which 4X4?????

Cool, and you get added ground clearance too! I have been tempted by a forester, maybe one day.
  13. And first aid training will show you that this sort of kit is not necessary. HSE requirements are for one small green first aid case. If you buy this kit you would need the small green HSE kit as well because that is what any trained bystander would look for and use, and there are additional items in this kit (tourniquet for starters) that are not allowed in your (hse) first aid kit (ok in secondary kit) You are more likely to have an accident driving a car than you are at work and since the whole nation doesn't carry a kit like this then there is no need for it. As an industry we need to practice rescue more and think less about spendign money on extra kit. We have an emergency service that can do that sort of thing. Havign a proper rescue drill and knowing where you are is far more important. In the other thread about a climber dying, it wasn't lack of expensive first aid kit that killed him!! In most cases a lift to hospital will sort it out, in worse cases stopping/slowing bleeding is important ( you don't need to spend £290 for that) and in really bad situations, broken limbs, internal bleeding, unconcousness etc. a first aid kit is actually not much use at all. Keep them still comfy warm talking if possible etc and get the ambulance there asap. First aid is about common sense and improvisation as much as, if not more than, the equipment you have, and what you don't do is also as important as what you do do. IMO

    Which 4X4?????

SUBARU is the only 4x4 that is a proper car aswell IMO. A disco is a big 4x4, and pick-ups are not cars. I've doen all sorts with mine, pulling trees over, dragging trunk around, getting the chipper in places. Of course ground clearance is an issue!

    Which 4X4?????

Cheers. I know nothing about that sort of thing. Mine doesn't have an intercooler so no need for any air intake like that. I did like the winch mount though!

    Which 4X4?????

No, thats not mine!! I don't quite understand the snorkel AND the air in take on the bonnet (hood) !!

Subaru legacy, or outback? The speed will make you smile, and the off road will surprise you!
  18. Good for you. Plant enough trees this winter and you'll be "in credit" for all the trees your going to cut down in the future!
  19. It must neerd emptying ten times a day though? Or four times for every one transit tipper load? Looks good though. Did they silicone the panels before riviting them? That will stop a lot of rattles in the future.
  20. Blaze is perfect, infact its one of the better ropes to use IMO

    Loler

That is so far down the line that you should be well pretected (emigrated) by then! Also don't let them banckrupt you, just do it voluntarily and bugger off. They can't touvch you then cos your bankrupteded. I'm not advocating this approach. I'm insured and lolered etc, I just hate all the fearmongering that goes on!

And if you have a big claim, just sell everything to your mates for a quid and they can't touch it! And they can't take your house unless you let them! Insurance companies suck arse!
  24. What is actually on the sylabus? If dbl fishermans is not required then why teach it?
