  1. hey dean. does that not take a long time to pack and is it not hard on the back? is it worth it when you can just loose load a tipper?
  2. well done mate, thats gonna cost you. my wedding is in march and we decided small and cheap...... upto 10k so far but 3 of that is the honeymoon to mexico without the kids bought the misses a nintendo ds.... i got an ironing board and washing line, then told to introduce myself to them... then she got dressed and put on my trousers. oh she is such a comedian
  3. once had a run in with weights and measures about how we sold the wood, we were selling it out of a one tonne pickup and sold it as a ton........... until some guy weighed every piece and reported us. after a discussion with weights and measures over a cup of tea we were advised of the following if you sell a product in quantity then you have to have a clear description it must be sold by a recognised weight or volume a van load or large bag is not a defined weight or volume. they recommended i sell by the m3 and described as a loose split load, if i could not weigh it, but had to find a way to measure a m3. we measured the truck and went from there. this happened 8 years ago, in this time i have found out that 1 ton dumpy bags come in a variety of sizes and are not a m3, and the cubic meter vented bags are liable to stretching. also wood sold by weight was never weighed and if it was then fresh wood was always on the bottom of the truck and nice dry stuff on top. as this fuel gets more popular, the public will become wiser. cover your ar5e and just do it right. trading standards will either help you or persicute you. i've only seen them once since and that was them asking me for advice good luck
  4. something not quite right about that ad why are there no photos of all the equipment? and the ones he does have are off the web site. looks like a con to me
  5. tennants problem mate. look at it like this if you were a painter and turned up at a house under the occupiers instruction and decorated a room an later found out the occupier was a tennant, how were you to know. is this then graffitti/ vandalism. the tennant knew full well what they were asking and doing, as long as you checked for a TPOor Conservation order then you are fine. why should you do a land registry check also
  6. WOOD TURNERS ARE THE BIGGEST PAIN IN THE AR$E WHEN YOU HAVE A WOOD PILE. they pull it all aprt and leave you with a big mess and then haggle over pennies.. chuck the wood in the splitter every time now... firewood for all of it
  7. i'm in... fingers crossed for a win
  8. paid £800 for that one and its never let me down
  9. drinking too much alcohol can kill you, but it dont tell you that on the bottle
  10. heres my girls, red one does the most work and i panick the most when i cant use it.
  11. how could they prove whose wood they were burning? the owner could have gone out and picked up some wood from anywhere and used that and then blamed the supplier
  12. ha ha ha, that hilarious but i would not have fired him..... just reminded him and humiliated him for ever more. i've seen some of the most experienced arborists do stupid things and read about more on here. this guy could be a dimond in the rough, go on give him a second chance:001_tongue:
  13. sorry for delay but broke a bone in my hand and pain is an issue i did have that ram problem but found it to be a combination of sticky hydraulic valve and mechanism. i just use the cheap blades and get them sharpened, but those prices look good
  14. mate i would change to nfu when i got robbed it was all sorted very quickly
  15. is it a 700 dave?
  16. prob run out just after xmas. then just tell them its only fresh and drop the price, after all it can only get drier and wont go off if stored right. what a mad old season its been
  17. how much do you know about this subject then? i have a customer who keeps asking me about thermal dynamics, should look into it really
  18. £40 quid for those mate, bought plenty for the misses over the years. they probably added a " last minute tax" and "lack of tea tax" and "no tip tax" ever heard of kharma???
  19. ideal for pizza ovens if i were closer i would be your best mate
  20. i built, wrote, designed, set up, uploaded the whole lot for my web site and i am in full control and update as often as i can. http://www.firewoodman.co.uk dont know how much work it genorates but it all helps. quite often get good feedback about the site and customers are often impressed that i did it myself and am self tought in computers i dont know much about optimising using the background html code, but do use adwords as it is very controlable and easy to optimise your keywords and price per click. have also done others google adwords used frontpage2000 + 2003 to do the site and have been running it for 8 years now. after a while you will find that your site starts appearing in other places in other directories yell.com also helps as you get more results on first page of search engines i always google myself to see where i appear and to see what the other companies are doing one thing i always try to do is not copy other companies web sites and have no comparisons. dont put as much time into it as i should as it is so easy to change.
  21. no! they are0.8 of a cubic meter a fraction bigger than one ton dummpy bags. i,ve stopped using these bags now and use stock fencing as shown by a member in another thread...........much better air flow
  22. i was there 90-93, arb stopped using brymore after bonner left, we went upto some house with the biggest beech trees i have ever seen. surrounded by pheasents, best sunday lunch i ever had when caught my first one
  23. i had something similar a few years ago done to me. cards pinched, slagging off, bitching.... they soon talk to the wrong people i just let it be, and laughed it off and just improved my service. i,ve now got thier contracts and no sleepless nights "proof of the pudding is in the eating"
  24. you won't be able to lift one but may be able to drag it you cant even lift a "barrow bag" be careful you dont underprice yourself....... if demand exceeds supply then you are in control once you have sold all of your good wood cheap, what do you do when there are still months left for you to sell wood to previous customers who are relying on you for seasoned wood to keep warm and you have sold out? what is more important to the customer........cheap wood or constant reliable supply? this is not a sideline anymore it is now an industry
  25. lime does dry quickly and i have found it burns pretty well when fresh if put on an already lit fire. burns well when seasoned and does give off a good heat. can be nasty to split as is twisted and stringy i used to say no to it before but not anymore
