  1. anyone own a woodland? how do you work it? what did you pay for it? (if you don,t mind telling) what do you get out of it? what can you do with it? do you enjoy it? reason i ask is i would love to own one but have always wondered if it is worth it would it be for profit from production or for re-sale or would it just be for sheer pleasure and self satifaction
  2. how much do you pay them per bag?
  3. found this site a few weeks ago and ordered some stuff and its all original. remembered it today when looking for database http://www.software4students.co.uk you dont need to be a student, just have a relative that is. i got ms office enterprise for under £50 bargain if you like ms:001_cool:
  4. why do you need a roof over the top of the trap? log pile is over 200m3 so at would take a lot of smoke
  5. had a dead polecat last year. thanks dean. kinda figured that one. whats the best bait to put in a live trap then?
  6. on an arable farm with free range poultry, so not too easy
  7. does anyone use a computer to store their customers detail andwork carried out, price, time etc i want to set one up but not good at this sort of thing. any help??
  8. i was told when i resued my dog that a x-breed will have les problems with health and lve longer than a pedigree, which was more or less confirmed with that program martin clunes did. the reason in the end i rescued a x-breed who is 13 now and only just going deaf and blind but been a figure of fitness otherwise. in fact took him to the vets recently and she thought he was a pup (6-12months) and was amazed when i told her his age, plus had him castrated under 6 months which kept the puppy qualities.
  9. had(squish) 3 on farm now got a new kitten
  10. yeah forgot to mention following on from terrier thread:blushing: got a dog now, x-breed border collie, going blind and deaf, had him for 13 years. a great companion and fantastic with the kids but we do find things a bit restictive now with owning a dog and the kids will be heartbroken when he dies. problem for me is i dont live where the wood is stored and the area is very busy with traffic and machinery and the dog would not be able to stay there overnight unless it was on a chain and i'm not a fan of that.
  11. anyone else have rats in the wood pile? any ideas on how to get rid of them? cant poison them cos they'll die in the pile and live traps aint working too well
  12. whats the one in your avatar 88man?
  13. yeah. been a bad summer for drying wood and it aint looking any better either!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. oh yes, so it does. ha ha:001_smile:
  15. yes it would be nice to preserve it. but it is in a farmers field taking up crop space and they are not renowned for their care of trees. although there are to quaint villages close by who may cause a fuss should the tree be removed. it is a favorite dog walk spot aswell
  16. yeah i would leave alone too. it is growing about 5 mile away from where the welsh TCC was held this year, actually i took the photo on the sat morning
  17. tis top heavy but would you prune hard to reduce weight and try to save or leave alone to die gracefully?
  18. the tree is in an excellent condition considering the damage sustained and has been set on fire several times. kids and a straw field.... what a combination
  19. i have driven past this tree quite regularly over the past few years and decided to stop and photograph it. you can almost fit 3 people inside the trunk what do you think? i'm amazed!
  20. i did have an expensive protimeter for timber which came with probes and a callibration table.... all whistles and bells then some tw*t broke in and knicked it. also looking for a good one now but not spening that much money again
  21. i've got 200 from bag supplies in cumbria and paid £6.50 i think including delivery each. had some for 2 years+ now and have ripped some....BUT once ripped they will not carryon ripping like one ton sacks do. the worst thing to break on them is the loops at the bottom i think these bags are excellent and work really well i would be intrested in trying a sample of the others and would test them to my working senarios but they woul have to be similar in design and size (m3)
  22. what oil do you use?
  23. do you know why the 064 died??
  24. fully agree i only use stihl oil for my stihl saws at recommended rate, blew up a husky on cheap oil at 50-1. no probs since have been advised to stay away from using any petrol which may have any bio-fuel additives as it can reduce the lube effect
  25. no.. you think you are thick!!! my accountant explained it to me 3 times and then gave up cos of the blank looks. something to do wth the amount of depreciation allowed with the 50-100% tax relief compared to turnover and profit. but can only be done if machinery is be kept for more than 5 years and expect to run it till it dies and not sold and also helps if machinery is bought on finance for extra tax relief. i'm no accountant, and just on self assesment, for the first 7 years i had no tax to pay, inspected 3 times and on one inspection was shown how to get more off the following year. it does help when you live opposite the tax office so you can pop in an ask for help with any questions
