  7. I am going to Kew on the 13th but dont rearrange on my account. Sounds like fun and I hope you have a good one. I went into Bath Christmas shopping yesterday and it was incredibly busy, dont even think about driving in to town on a weekend at this time of year. :beerchug:
  8. Build a giant Kelly kettle that runs lying down. I have seen a 5 foot long one before that is used for a hot water system, it was awesome. I think it was made out of an old compressor tank with 2 holes cut in each and and a large steel pipe welded in the middle with a chimney coming of the back. Add some plumbing and away you go. Its probably not that simple but I bet its cheep.
  9. I would have applied for that job if I lived in London. Looked like a great opportunity.
  10. The next logical step is a root collar excavation to assess the buttress and roots.
  11. He was being a dopey git. It slipped a bit on the tree so he decided to cut out a flat section for it to sit against and rather than take it fully off he just slacked it off and lent it out and down a bit. I looked down, couldn't work out what he was doing then saw him just cut through the strap with the 371. Luckily we had the portawrap with us. Sometimes short cuts just don't pay off. All a bit daft really.
  12. Where abouts in Dorset are you bassed ?

  13. Great videos Reg. Its always a bit of a shock when the ground team accidentally lock of the lowering line. I love using the hobs block and think its a fantastic tool. It would be nice to show some videos of balancing long limbs and cutting them with sideways or on top gobs also top roping sections and lifting them with the ratchet. This is where the hobs block really comes into its own. Our hobbs block got its strap cut by the man on the ground a couple of weeks ago! but its back in action with a new strap now. What ropes do you use on your Hobs? I think our ropes are Sampson. We use a 16mm and a 14mm. We also have a 12mm that milks like crazy, really naff rope dont know what make it is. I think with a rope that had a really low surface tension the Hobs would perform better.
  14. Bent gate caribener slipped under the belt of your harness works well.
  15. I use my side strop like Indiana uses his whip and pull myself across the tree if I cant swing. Im partial to the occasional spear/ slash cut.
  16. I have as my cambium saver a webbing sling with a big ring girth hitched on one end and a pulley and oval maillon on the other. Really cheep and very light. When I am going to be re visiting my anchor point or want a supper slick anchor point I choke the sling around the limb. Ive been using this for the last 4 months and there are no signs of ware on the sling. Deffinatly cheeper than a rope guide.
  17. Very subtle. Id be really pleased with myself if I had done it.
  18. Are we going to arrange a tour ?
  19. Aright shag You cant polish a turd ........ but you can role it in glitter. Misery's the river of the world
