  1. All sawn up into little blocks approx 2 inches square just ready for burning. Two full dumpy bags full..
  2. If it was arranged I would have the option as to when they come instead I am being told their coming tomorrow afternoon and they expect me or a representative to be their.
  3. New policy by Lancs CC From their letter. "Historically these farm inspections have been carried out unannounced. The appointment system is undertaken in the hope it will benefit all parties by reducing wasted time and focusing on issues where we can help. It then gives a detailed checklist of what their looking for none of which affects me so I can see it being a very short meeting.
  4. Okay final attempt at posting prices from Chelford. Bags of logs £1.50 per bag Bags of joiners logs ) 75p per bag Bags of joiners offcuts DNS Dumpy bags Softwood MC <20% £35 Dumpy bag scaffold boards MC<20% £10 Dumpy bag Softwood MC >35% DNS Auctioneer wanted min £30 Dumpy Bag Joiners softwood <20% DNS Auctioneer wanted min £20 Dumpy Bag Kitchen melamine worktops DNS Dumpy bags Hardwood mixed MC >30% £35 Dumpy bags Hardwood mixed MC <20% DNS Auctioneer wanted min £40 Bare in mind commission to be taken off these figures of approx 30% ie I sold equipment worth £51 actually received after commission £36 As regards VAT not aware of any lots having VAT so obviously sellers not registered for VAT.
  5. Not used my first name since the age of 4. bet you cant guess what my second name is.
  6. Looks like they have had poor quality service in the past and want to tar the whole industry with the same brush About Burnswood Do they actually produce logs or briquettes or is it all bought in.
  7. Pity thats not the size of crate quoted which is 1.2mx1.0mx1.2m which in my books is only just over 1.4 cubed. To get 2 cube on a standard 1.2mx1m pallet it would need to be 1.7m high. As I said trading standards would have a field day. If you tipped 2 cube of loose fill out and restacked I am sure you could get it into a 1.4 cube box but I have not got the time to prove it.
  8. If you look at the wording they are comparing with loose fill dumpy bags. A stacked pile will always look a lot less than loose fill. I wonder how long it takes to stack a crate as compared to loose fill.
  9. I hope he can back that statement up otherwise trading standards will have a field day. Oh that reminds me the farm is being spot checked by trading standards tomorrow. What so special about kiln dried I can easily get below 15% MC in a polytunnel maybe I should market the virtues of Solar Dried as compared to the global warming Kiln Dried.
  10. My wife keeps reminding me that I am supposed to be a farmer but the timber seems to have taken over. I think farmers have an important role to play in expanding the forest industry.
  11. Save your money if you design your polytunnel correctly you will not require additional heat to dry the timber. I dry to 12% MC with no additional heat in our polytunnels the secret is air flow through the tunnels not sealing the moisture in the tunnels. If you want to look at my set up send me a PM
  12. A Kesla Proax head would cut down anything less than 8"
  13. Why would anybody buy new when recycled is cheaper. This crazy attitude is why the planet is in such a mess. Hanging Around The 80x80x80 bags are plain white with no adverts. We also have larger bags 100x80x80 with a black line check design which we use for wood pellets.
  14. The MB Trac 800 with a factory fitted turbo was badged as the MB Trac 900 Turbo and is 85hp as opposed to the stand MB Trac 800 of 75hp still a long way short of 100hp. Looks like it never reached its reserve of £7500
  15. Be very careful there is an awful lot of second hand saw benches which have no respect for fingers and should have been scrapped years ago. I would recommend a Browns sliding top saw bench but with the logging blade cover and log clamp.
  16. But could you put a cork in it and power your car.
  17. If you got the right sort of gasification burner you could use your woodchip to produce your own gas
  18. I run my chipper on white but then it is attached to the MB Trac and we do a lot of road work so really dont have an option.
  19. Approx 80,000 tonnes per annum goes to the power station on Tyneside according to a CHP seminar I attended about a year ago I think it was from one of the Latvian countries which supply it.
  20. Should have told him that you require a loler tested shackle so that when it breaks and somebody gets injured at least you can prove you thought of health and safety rather than just picking up any old shackle knowing that it will probably break because it has not been tested. Shackles do break and people get injured every year from wire ropes recoiling out of control.
  21. My MB Trac will soon need some new rubber however with a size of 16.9 X 26 it is no longer classed as standard tyre size so the tyre distributors have put up prices. As good secondhand seems to be like gold dust I wondered whether I could get around the problem using duals. I have row crop wheels for the MB at 9.5 X 42 if I got another set and fitted as duals all round it would give me a similar footprint and have the advantage of higher ground clearance and top speed if I dare use it. Any body have experience of duals in a forest environment.
  22. I thought it was just me being impatient but it has got worse in the last 6 months to the stage were its not even worth trying between 5pm and 7pm
  23. Problem living on a farm called "Hill Top" it does get rather windy. Two 6 mtr roof panels ripped off the barn. Duck house flattened and floating in the pond.No TV as the Sat dish blown out of line. Apart from that no problems.
  24. They are remanufactured. The infeed cover is removed and the exit tube is stitched up so it makes a very strong bag for half the price of new and stops them from going into landfill.
  25. Come on guys its a standard 800x800x800 dumpy bag with 4 loops to lift originally manufactured to hold 500 kg of chemicals so will easily hold half a cube of wet logs. If your that concerned PM your address and I can send a sample
