  1. Get the terminology right - you're not applying you are notifying - there is a difference. And the answer is yes to do what you notified.
  2. If there is no likely hood of a TPO being made on the tree then crack on. The council legal department won't be prosecuting if the tree officer was going to allow it anyway - costs to much money;)
  3. Doesn't make any difference if they are on the flat rate scheme. You still charge and claim vat, but rather than working it all out you just pay a flat rate. I've been on the scheme for a couple of years now and pay less vat than if I was on a normal scheme.
  4. You sure you don't mean 'magic shroom'?
  5. There were around 25-30 people attending. It starts with a class room session in the morning about the history of rigging and the equipment. Moving onto swl and loading factors on a system (this was enlightening:thumbup1:) After lunch there were practical demos, which for me personally were a little basic, and I would have preferred to see something more advanced/technical. Still, it was a good day and worth the money, and we were lucky with the weather. Kevin Moore who presented the day is a good talker and makes the day interesting.
  6. The event was last saturday I'm afraid mate. Have to wait until the next one, but you have to book up/pay in advance, as soon as it is advertised because the places go quickly.
  7. Getting the Stag out soon for national Drive it Day. Should be loads of classic cars out and about today
  8. It wasn't a response to your post John, just a graphic illustration for Andy's post before yours
  9. Last edited by Tony Sorensen; 1 Hour Ago at 09:10 AM.. Reason: Graphically related to the above thread but perhaps not really the kind of thing I need to see over morning coffee at work... I did wonder how long it would stay up for - sorry.
  10. "Mr Pinus" Are you sure you spelt that right Dean?
  11. Anyone going to the rigging workshop at Wakehurst Place this coming Saturday? Al.
  12. That would be horizontal cutting. I take it you mean for chogging down?
  13. Not sure how you would do vertical step cuts when chogging down: I suppose I could be classed as being one of the guys with decades more experience - well 3 anyway:biggrin: And still learning!
  14. Would you want to be holding by hand something that big?
  15. That's why I love my ladder for accessing a tree, so much quicker than a throwline
  16. When I used to sharpen teeth I had a 6" bench grinder with a green wheel on one side and normal wheel on the other. Grind the body of the tooth back with the normal wheel and then grind back the tungsten with the green wheel. It's all about getting the angle right. Don't do them anymore as reckon I can earn enough out of one set of teeth to not need to. Best decision I made, used to hate that job everything getting covered in dust.
  17. I use the vertical steps all the time because I find I have more control not less. The branch won't break off before you want it to, which is always a risk with doing under then over. I would get fed up with the saw getting stuck doing over the under!
  18. COMPUTER PROBLEMS I was having trouble with my computer. So I called Braden, the 11 year old next door whose bedroom looks like Mission Control, and asked him to come over.Braden clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem. As he was walking away, I called after him, "So, what was wrong?' He replied, 'It was an ID ten T error.' I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, 'An, ID ten T error? What's that?In case I need to fix it again. 'Braden grinned.... '**Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?'' No,' I replied. 'Write it down,' he said, 'and I think you'll figure it out.' So I wrote down: I D 1 0 T I used to like the little s**t*. . . . . .
  19. So you made a mistake and the guys who work for you didn't get paid. That's disgusting:thumbdown:
  20. If my truck was only a few weeks old and the wheels fell off an identical truck I would be worried, yes. I don't have a zz but if I did I wouldn't be using it until the facts were known or a backup was in place. I'm enjoying my life and would like to continue to do so. I wouldn't want to be the second climber to have a zz fail, from what could be 20m. Its your call though.
  21. That should be Pirtek mate;)
  22. Run by the arb association. Have a look on their website for more info. Don't think they are going to France though...
  23. See you there Glen.
  24. Anyone else from here going to this tomorrow? If so, see you there! Al.
