  1. Looks promising, thanks. I'll call them on Monday.
  2. Think he said he was going to Nice. Or maybe he said it was nice where he was...
  3. Thought I had logged onto Facebook for a minute....
  4. What's your category Peter? I'm using forestry and fishing at 10.5% Closest I could find to tree surgery / arb.
  5. A little bed time reading for you Stevie 👍 https://www.gov.uk/vat-flat-rate-scheme/overview
  6. It's £150,000 or less excluding vat.
  7. If you can show it to the vat man when he asks to see it then yes. Don't think fuel would be classed as a capital asset somehow Johny😥
  8. No you can't Steve. If your turnover is between certain amounts then you can apply to go on the flat rate scheme. You charge out at 20% as normal but only pay the vat man 10.5%. You don't need to keep receipts or add them up as the 7.5% difference is for your your purchases. If you buy an asset that cost £2000 or more including the vat, you can claim the vat back. If you buy a few assets that total £2000 Inc vat you can claim back as well. If you sell an asset you have to declare the vat. I can't dummie it down anymore than that!😂😂
  9. I let my step mum aka book keeper sort it out! I know she had to set up a profit on vat account, as I wasn't paying as much vat as normal. You can only be on a flat rate scheme upto a certain turnover. Went on it when the recession started and turnover dropped, but getting close to having to come off it again now.
  10. Have a tree felling job in Brighton on Thursday next week. A little out of my normal area and will need to off load some woodchip and wood. Can anyone help please? Cheers.....Al
  11. It's done using a Picus Tomograph.
  12. Unless you are making purchases just under the 2k all the time it doesn't matter, the difference in percentage more than allows for the purchases. I pay less vat on the flat rate scheme than on the normal scheme.
  13. It's a burr Geoff. Wood turner would love to get hold of that!
  14. What's with the curly bits in yours? Not seen that before.
  15. Cheers. It had a couple of ganoderma brackets in the buttresses which I advised indicated decay, but the client wanted to retain the tree if possible as it was quite a feature. They are building multi-million pound house within falling distance do needed to be sure. £200 for a Picus test was nothing compared to what they are spending!
  16. I've tried all sorts of jackets, and they all make me just as wet with sweat, might as well not worn one.
  17. Cheers Paul. The picus test was done about 1/2 metre off the ground due to the large buttress roots. The decay was worse lower down as suspected.
  18. Took the Hemlock down today. Was as decayed as the Picus said!
  19. There is a setting that can be changed when plugged into a pc that cancels out all back ground noise.
  20. Hi Steve Are you referring to the arborcom headset? I had some of these originally and like you had to send them away to be fixed. Came back, broke again, repaired again and then I sold them before they broke yet again Now use sena smh10 headsets. Way better, cheaper and can connect to up to 4 headsets.
  21. Having a sunroof helps so you can see the tree from more than one perspective! Evoque with a panoramic roof is ideal.😂
  22. I wouldn't use wd40. Too oily and will attract dirt and grit to make a nice grinding paste! Carb cleaner works well as it evaporates.
