  10. No Sean it was completly over grown with trees and scrub and i cleared around it and the silt has been dug out. A footpath goes past it and people said they did not even know there was a pond there. Give it a year or two and it will be full of frogs and newts with dragonflys over:biggrin:
  11. Yes a barn owl box Ben but i might move this one as it has been there two years with no visitors. Last pollarded a long time ago:lol: There are a lot of these and i want to re-pollard some but the boss says no leave them alone

  15. Spot on Skyhuck about the first aid. Touch wood i never use it apart from a plaster or two a bit of cream on a blackthorn prick. We have a first aid course every 3 years and as said if you never use it you tend to forget plus the first aid does change i know the last one several bits changed and the lady said we don't do that anymore so that is worth the money:001_smile:
  16. Hello Dan how are things not seen you on here much. Hows work? keeping busy? Are you going to any shows or seminars this year? David

  17. I also agree with big ammer. I do the same job day after day year after year and with different trees you learn something new every day. It is better to move forward learn about spotting signs of rot, what types of fungi cause different sorts of rot white brown and soft ect:001_smile:
  18. Paul he was invited but he is not actually HSE he is one of those companys that look after HSE matters on the estate and makes sure things are tickety boo. Thanks for your reply i will go with CS34:thumbup1: As i said somewhere before last year i had to do a refresher for pesticides and it was word for word what he said 6 years ago:lol: Apart from a free lunch it was a waist of money:001_smile:
  19. No i looked it up you need 30 31 and 32 only:001_smile: But i would rather keep going forward than learning the same thing again if that makes sense:001_smile:
  20. HSE was here today for anual inspection. The outcome was i need a refresher course for chainsaw. I have CS30 31 and CS32. Am i right in saying if i do CS34 or CS50 this counts as a refresher sorry as i don't crasp the above as i am a little backward:lol:
  21. Nice job hard work but you can't beat good old english Oak:thumbup:
  22. Hi Ben. I always do my planting before christmas i have never done them as late as this. You will have to let me know how they take and what % you have to beat up next year. Just finished my new ride moving on to next job tomoz

  23. Nice one Monkey D you would of been snapping away all day had you not only got room for twenty
  24. I would class it as one as the sapling would be living off the cedar:001_smile:
  25. A few years back i had contractors in the park felling a few big old oaks they have a big Volvo BM and piled all the wood for a big fire this was in july after the deer have had their young. They came in one morning and lit the fire then i got a call David you better get here quick the embers from the fire had landed in an old hollow oak and caught alight in the dead wood as the fire in the tree raged flames were coming out of the top of the tree. We had to just wait till it burnt out but i had a restless night i was afraid it would blow to the next tree. PS all veteran lovers please forgive me:lol:
