  1. You know whats gonna happen though! You'll get distracted by something on Monday morning and forget to switch it off again!
  2. Take it out of his wages. Its only £11.50/week or 4 pints, if he likes a drink.
  3. Ours annouces the message so you can hear it as its being recorded and you can pick it up if you want to speak to them.
  4. Chris, one of my subbies, has just reinsured his 4x4 this week through Trust and they were cheaper than his renewal quote and various search engines. Don't forget if your using it for your own work, you need business use cover on it.
  5. I hardly ever answer the phone, unless I'm at my desk during business hours. Worthwhile customers who actually want something doing will leave a message. Timewasters hang up, automatically culling themselves out as potential sources of work.
  6. Congrats Cerne!
  7. The rear projection marker should not be orange, should it? For, as we all know very well indeed........... Tie a YELLOW ribbon round an old oak tree!!!!! :001_tt2: Sorry Alex! Couldn't resist it!
  8. No Dave, apart from the helmet. What about the orange projection marker on the rear of the load?
  9. We did 10 dead ones on Monday. I let Dave climb a few and top them out just for the experience! Steep learning curve!!! I was filthy with the chipping dust also!
  10. Surely you can see it?
  11. I have just looked at these pictures of the road transportation of the oak tree and I am disgusted at the flagrant disregard of the most basic application of H & S in this situation.
  12. Au contraire... its a piece of piss in a lwb, theres plenty of room in the back. In a swb it takes skill and experience!
  13. If you do domestic jobs a d/c tranny and chipper will have the hopper in mrs bloggs driveway and the Ford badge at the other side of the road. Its a long rig and I believe there are issues with the axle weights. Mwb tranny with a tool box is better and shorter. If you do commercial stuff you need to run a bigger truck or take another vehicle on site.
  14. Tidy job Tom. I like working on elm. Takes me back to when I started climbing.
  15. His Lordship; "Take all those sycamores out. They are weeds in the woods and nothing will live on them." "I will, your Lordship! ....... specially if they are rippled." "Pardon?" "I said, I will your Lordship, its straightforward and they'll be no trouble."
  16. All the best to you and yours.
  17. I'm interested. I too would like to know more about it.
  18. [quote=RobDog;128472 always use a new rope with each SL job I shouldn't wonder.
  19. Tying your boots on!
  20. Zeppelin bend is useful to know for joining two ropes together. Holds fast and is good to untie afterwards. Handy for any 'unusual' off set winching, when you need a very long rope. Or getting you out of a hole, like when junior members of staff have felled the spar tree for your snatch block.
  21. I won't be going to Capel Manor. However, I have a complimetary ticket to admit one person FOC. If anyone wants it pm me your address and I'll post it on.
  22. Nice job Tom. When you did the tops, did you tension the line to where you wanted it and leave it at that for most of the work, or were you slackening and tensioning the line for each piece? To save you pushing an awkward back leaner like at about 3.20, you can get them to tension the line up enough to pull it over.
  23. What's the speed of dark?
  24. Judging by your picture Bob, you look to have given this operation much thought, have assessed the risks and have put on the appropriate PPE!
  25. It gets worse, Skyhuck, second prize is a ride in Dean's MEWP!!!
