  1. this was a fairly old bit off old rope I havnt used for a while thats still in good condition. I ended up using a piece of velocity instead as the tachyon splice looked lumpy when I finished and I wasnt happy with it. nice one for the A OK on the three blue inner strands though. very useful for future stuff.
  2. Spliced some orange tachyon the other night for a long friction saver. it was tricky as hell! got it done after about two hours of kneading and hanging on the eyes to milk the cover over but boy are my hands sore. I removed the three blue/purple strands in the centre of the inner braid. should I have done this as I assumed this is there to keep the 'roundness' of the rope. is it always this tricky? think im may stick to nice easy blaze/velocity for future projects!
  3. ive used the 'rope walker' system alot and think its great. made mine up out of a pantin, an old bungee cord, an old beaten up croll ascender and a couple of wire gates. makes long ascents a doddle and it means your ready to work position on a doubled line system.
  4. I just made a rope guide with a pinto rig pulley and my tachyon rope go's through but the rubber stopper/ring that I use to close the rope splice just snags the pulley. works ok with a bit of force.
  5. Seems like you got yor heart set on the ART or the grillion but I would defo consider the trango cinch. very compact device and smooth as you like.especially when loaded. only takes up to 11mm rope tho. toss up between the two other devices Id go with the ART. grillion quite cumbersome.
  6. new husqvarna t540 XP on its way! prepare to be amased!
  7. stretch airs last but i find em so bloody uncomfortable. they remind me of the oldschool duvet covers we used to wear. Although the hi flexs do wear out quick they are still the comfiest I reckon.
  8. throw lines are either heaven or hell. always get stuck when you need it least.
  9. used blaze for years and love it.
  10. looking at getting a new pair of spurs and was wandering if anyone on here has used the komets with the green pads. they look mega comfortable. im quite a heavy chap and although been around the block abit have never managed to find a pair of comfy spikes and want to get a really good set this time. also open to recomendations! http://www.abbeypro.co.uk/climbing-hardware/climbing-spikes/showitem-WW-1014991.aspx
  11. interested to know where it says that? been using it with the spiderjack for months and it self tends, runs very smooth and grips very well. does help if your used to climbing with small diameter ropes tho. [or wear gripper gloves!]
  12. ? do you mean freeclimb or am i being a bit thick?
  13. i use blaze and it works lovely. self tends really well.
  14. i dont use a thimble on mine just a n eight wrap of 8mm cord. still runs smooth and never comes off.
  15. I have a black diamond touchstone haul bag. have had it for at least 4 years. i can get 2 40 meter ropes, harness, all my karabinars and friction cord, ascenders, silky hardhat etc etc. its made strong enough to be dragged up the side of mountains and is still not showing any signs of wear whatsoever. im gonna be passing it on to my grandchildren at this rate. i have l lterally had one rope bag after another for my rigging gear from other manufacturers and they have all either ripped, handles torn off or zips broke inside of a year. costly and tedious. the black diamonds are expensive but its defo a cas of buy quality...buy once. also metolius make superb dome bags that will take a proper battering and not break.
  16. the new husky is gonna up the game. wait and see!
  17. put another couple of wraps on your swabisch hitch. that should shorten those legs up and give you more friction. its a good friction hitch. ive always really liked o.p.
  18. the new husqvarna t 540 is coming with a quick release second eye so you can remove from one of these hooks with one hand. very snassy.
  19. i had the duo 2 and found it really comfy but the bridge wore out and you cant replace it. havnt tried the 3 but heard you can replace the bridge so thats one bonus! can you send some greek sunshine over to cornwall?!
  20. 10 mm mammut supasafe and a trango cinch. overhand knot in end tucked through the harness webbing and daisy chain it. lovely.
