  1. Well I think my slug is jolly nice thank you......and I still havnt managed to get it stuck even on purpose yet. so I don't need to make five or ten gaffa taped bags........
  2. ive never used the positioner.....never needed to as I use the cinch and cant fault it in any way. I have some mammut dynaflex dynamic rope for mine. which is smooth as anything. defo recommend it.
  3. Just checked out ebay and it looks like theres a slug to suit all eventualities now.....10 OZ, 12 OZ, 15 OZ! Mine has arrived and its a ruddy great bit of kit. very sturdy and steamlined. highly recomended.
  4. I also have the ESS goggles. They are superb. Just pull em down when you need em. highly recommend.
  5. if you run out Vaseline.....try the:laugh1: K Y jelly.......
  6. well the slug has worked it charm on me and i've ordered one. looks like a pretty good bag to me. especially as it has the loop on the bottom.
  7. what with all the new throw weights coming out.....anyone tried 'the slug' yet? looks pretty good to me and cheap! might grab me one. The Slug 10oz Throwbag for Arborists, Tree Surgeons, Rope access and Geocaching | eBay
  8. mine is black with blue streaks in it. Most decent caving shops seem to sell it ive noticed. I got mine from a rope access guy on ebay. Mammut Climbing/rope access static rope 11mm - 50m length | eBay
  9. well I just been for a scramble with me new Mammut and so far it knocks the old tachyon into a cocked hat thats for sure. seems very static with only a tiny amount of stretch and my hitch locks and glides up and down smoothly. quite taken with it at the minute. Higher braking strain than kernmaster and similar construction from what I can gather......for two thirds of the price.....!
  10. Mammut just arrived today. lovely light feel and I was very suprised with how flexible and malable it is. I thought it would be alot stiffer like many other static/caving/access ropes. So far so good but a big climb will be the proof. I have plans to use for work positioning as well as access. Good to know someone else been using it and likes it as I was just taking a flyer at it really. Ive been using new england tachyon and have found it too stretchy for SRT work positioning.
  11. Ive just bought some 11mm Mammut performance static. not used it yet but will give it a whirl next week. Its supposed to be highly abrasion resistant and very static. We shall see!
  12. I almost always climb SRT now but like the option if switching back to DDRT personally. Just for retrieval purposes sometimes. I have a wichard style quick release on my tether to take it off If i wanna swap. Im still using a spliced soft tether. love it.
  13. totally agree. wore mine until they literally fell off. so comfy.
  14. i second that mate. ive had my black diamond bag 6 odd years now and it has had a battering. still going strong. i can get two ropes, harness full of bling, throwline cube, spikes and helmet as well as any other little odds and ends in mine. buy quality, buy once. job done.
  15. i seem to remember it was 67 mm. i got it on ebay for about 4 quid. there are loads of sailing shops on there that sell these in different sizes. it works really well. initially i splice an old cambium saver ring on there but it used to snag and create unwanted friction on desents. this makes it so easy though.
  16. i have a wichard style snap shackle on mine. works awesome.
  17. whats a fimblsaver?
  18. I saw one like this on ebay! how well dos the snap shackle run? I spliced an aluminium ring on mine at the retrievable end and found that it brushed at an angle an caused unwanted friction on the rope when descending. since seeing this one i picked up a shackle to give your design a try. .
  19. never thought i would say this but I havnt gone back to climbing Ddrt since buying a rope wrench. just too good:thumbup1:. give it a whirl.
  20. youve all talked me into it. I got one on order. hope its as revoloutionary as everyone says it is!
  21. oh I see what you mean. a bit like a swiftie?
  22. just found this on ebay. komet arborist tree surgeon | eBay anyone know what it is?
  23. They have a metal ring for the lanyard attachment and a hardend plastic attachment point for use with a caritool or inverted straight gate krab. very useful when working in awkward positions. works really well.
  24. defo the hardest ive done so far. seems like the outer braid is much tighter than most others.
